I was thinking about buying a new shifter since mine is totally worn out.
I tried taking it out, but it wouldn't bulge.

I'm just wondering, how are they fastened? Are they the ones where you just turn counter-clockwise?

just twist it really hard. we had to use a wrench to get my brothers off, mine was actually really easy to twist off.
oh and i doubt you'll be able to salvage the old shift knob..it will probably be torn up when u try to take it off with a wrench...u can try with ur hands but it's just ezer with a tool.

twist it ---> like no tomorrow.

thats the easiest part.

I had to fiddle around with the screws to get it right side up while screwing the knob in. (The numbers would be off center)

But that wasn't the hardest part. The shift boot would fall down after some shifting. There was a little OEM screw that I needed to keep it from falling down, but for some reason, the little piece of plastic is only manufactured for RSX's. Just so happens it fits on civic too.

(Item # BAK-XXXX)

I tried soooo damn hard trying to find this part. I must have called 20 Acura/Honda dealerhshi*s around my area. It also just so happens that this $10-$15 POS piece of plastic is discontinued for some damn reason.

So I what I did was get a spring about 5-6 inches tall, rip my console off, and insert the spring into the shaft.

All this work just because Honda designed its stupid line to coincide with Acura, and for some reason not manufacturing the part anymore.

Think it was well worth it though. If your about to get a new shift knob, I'd recommend the Skunk2. You can kill something with this badboy. You just give it a nudge, and it throws just for you. smile.gif

Heres some links too some pics I took when I had my old shift knob:

You know what? Mine falls off too. It took me 10 minutes to stick it back in... only to find it falling off after a few miles.

Thx for the replies.

The knob that I am interested in is the Voodoo shift knob.

I heard those with s2k's use it and they love it.
