Stress is the biggest cause of my illnesses. I've fainted, thrown up, had digestive problems, and even got the shingles (at the age of 15!) because of stress.

Right now I am stressed, my stomach is killing me and I feel like I'm going to throw up any minute. T____T

I don't know how to deal with stress well. Is anyone else like this? And if you are, how do you deal with it? Do you deal with it?
I am loved ♥

Well, i have PPD. It's like severe depression/emotional stress after having a child. I get major headaches, i can't eat, my stomach hurts, i'm sleepy, but i can't sleep. I currently take medication for it, but it only helps for a bit. I just workout regularly, it reduces like some chemical imbalance or something like that. And i have an occational cig. I ain't promoting you to smoke btw. lol. But yeah, i kno it seems like everybody is saying that working out can cure everything, but it sorta can. It really helps. I pinky promise! smile.gif

If your stress is that bad that you're constantly feeling it, it might be time to see a psychologist or a therapist to see what the real root of your issue could be. Maybe you're taking stress out of situations that shouldn't be that stressful.

I do tend to get sick when I get very stressed out. Law school admissions exams plus regular undergrad coursework had me in shingles and a bad cold too. The first week of law school also had me with a bad cold because of too much traveling between cities (international vacations + visiting friends + moving to a new city = a lot of stress on the body). I think the most important thing is to schedule your life to minimize stress. Sometimes there's no way to get around stressful situations simply because that's how the chips fall; however, most of the time, a lot of stressful situations can be diverted just by planning ahead and planning generously. What I usually do is estimate how long it takes to do a certain activity (homework, for example) and multiply that estimation by 2 (one hour becomes two hours in planning; two hours become four); usually this will accommodate for whatever slacking or troubles I come across in terms of getting the work done. Of course, this makes for a busier schedule and you get fewer things done on paper (it looks like you're not doing much over the course of the day), but it affords you the ease of having enough time to get the work you need to get done while accommodating for accidents and other things. Studying also becomes less stressful if you work in one hour blocks and then rest for another fifteen; it makes long hours of studying become less intensive and olympic and it's easier on your brain and body.

Working out has helped tremendously in unraveling stress and a lot of people work out to alleviate stress. I used to know this guy who had decided to save his virginity for marriage and he works out several hours a day because it alleviates the stress of, well, being a horny guy who's saving it for marriage. It's also a way of having alone time or personal time because you're really working out for yourself and for your own betterment, which helps with the stress of thinking about what you should be doing for other people or your other responsibilities. Also, by working out, you strengthen your body so it can endure five hours in a library and other stresses. Don't forget that diet and nutrition have a great influence on how your body deals with random crap that happens to it--including stress.

In the end, if you find yourself still severely stressed out, I agree with the above poster with the psychiatrist advice. Doctors may prescribe you anti-anxiety medication if your symptoms are very extreme and consistently interfere with your everyday enjoyment of life. This is particularly the case if you're prone to panic attacks (in which you will get an upset stomach and perhaps vomit), and it is a serious medical issue.

You should try meditation. When you feel too stressed out, find a state in which you are able to relax and clear everything out of your mind. Focus on breathing in and out. Doing this at least 15 minutes a day can help your mind to just relax.

Exercise. Go to the gym, or take a daily jog perhaps? Whether you notice it or not, our bodies carries a lot of stress. When you exercise, you release endorphins (like happy hormones) and this helps you feel better fast. Even if you come back home from a long day all tired and stuff, you have to push yourself to do it. You might be thinking, "I'm too lazy, I don't feel like it." Just force yourself too, afterward you'll feel better and refreshed.

Remember that a human brain is very powerful. The stress is making you sick and it's not a good thing. Try to think positive thoughts and when things are starting to stress you out.. just breathe, relax, and tell yourself "relax, I can do this." Just focus on trying to improve on being more calm too. Find ways that help you feel better. Give yourself a break and do things you enjoy. When I feel stressed, I enjoy writing.. helps me vent out everything I'm feeling.

so yea.. good luck to you and get well soon. remember if it just gets too bad then go see your doctor. You don't want to end up in a depression or a severe illness. =/

I agree with everyone else~!! Most definitely try to relax as much as possible! -^___^-; Also! It's always good to talk to a friend or someone about your problems and issues. Bottling up everything isn't good and can cause stress, but talking out and to people can help take a heap load off your shoulders! It's always good to go out and get some fresh air when you can as well! Do a physical activity, go camping, go out of town, do homework in a park, read a book in the backyard, go to a lake, etc. And you can even go out to have some fun sometimes with friends! Like going to an amusement park, going to see a movie, etc. Little things like that help a lot!! And I really do suggest talking to people about your problems.. bottling just does so much!
And yup! I have heart problems, and when I'm stressed it kind of acts up. So I have to try and be really careful! But things will get better I'm sure! So just release and let it all out. Good luck! I hope you feel better. TT__TT!

this happens to me all the time
i'm constantly worried and stuff so I lose my appetite easily, get headahces easily and I just feel all sick and stuff
sometimes i use essential oils to relieve my stress..like peppermint/lavender oil to give my brain a boost of energy. Or i'll eat something sweet too.
another idea is to write into a "stress journal" just get a notebook/ paper and write down everything is stressing you out. or write down whatever is in your mind and just keep the flow and soon you'll feel a bit better ^^
at the moment I'm feeling headachy- like a cold is coming and I think its stress that school is starting soon. just relax

hope you get better! i know how you feel =(

^ yeah--before and after I lost one of my dogs, the only way I could fall asleep was by smelling lavender.

there's a lot of stress in my life. Not school, but most of it is because of my family, and things that have happened, especially over the past few years. I get bad stomachaches and headaches. There are times when I can't eat, and if I do, I end up regretting it. There are times when I feel like throwing up too. >< Sometimes it goes on for days if it's not quiet or calm here. =/ There have been periods or weeks of not eating (while taking care of animals that have been sick before we lose them), or not having more than a couple of meals within that time--or just eating junk (nothing else), and I know that's not good. I've gained a lot of weight because of it. To try and help get rid of at least some of the stress, I read a lot (regular books and online), listen to music, and watch tv/DVDs (Totoro and related things are really good for this). I do stuff that helps me smile or feel better. Unfortunately it doesn't stick too long sometimes.

how about drawing- doodling? try really hard to make something totally awesome!
maybe some art can help you distract yourself, and especially do it when the weathers nice
you really need to forget about everything- make yourself blank
enjoy the simple things, and if u have a mini forest for a backyard- enjoy the wildlife
basicly- take a break- think about yourself and your own well being
sing a song- run around like a physco
doing silly things help too
or maybe you can do what some do- blog it- writing out how you feel, its pretty refreshing

become eccentric- just a little- weird things are always fun :]

i think i have a little of that, tho not as severe as some posters, and not study related either. when i had problems with my ex-boyfriend, i'd feel like fainting, get really bad headaches, develop fevers, stomach pains, lose my appetite, get nauseous and feel like throwing up, feel dizzy, not be able to get to sleep for hours till i fall asleep out of exhaustion and generally feel really really unwell. he didn't believe that i was sick though. >:[ and thought i was faking it to get his attention, cause it really felt too coincidental, and when we were better i became fine miraculously. figured it after awhile though about the mental vs physical thing.

*Sigh* I'm not stranger to stress, either..... I just recovered from a chronic depression less than a year ago....

I don't know, I'm christian so praying and praising has helped me a lot along with my faith. I know words like 'relax' and 'don't worry' seems so cliche, but it's true, and it's up to you no one else. If it's school that is bothering you, you just gotta stop thinking about it and just let your mind get RID of it. I read you can do that by watching a mindless sitcom on TV or something. That later helps you focus better, so actually there is a chance for you to do better at school!

I really really hope you get better. smile.gif
Thank you for the Music..

Since it's the beginning of the year, I'm not that stressed......YET. Lol. But last year was awful which I can mostly attribute to my procrastination skills. -__- I think an essential part of why I'm not as easily stressed now is because I give myself more time to do my work. I study every night (for all subjects) instead of cramming for tests/quizzes, which will improve my overall grade for pop quizzes! Yay! Lol. I don't stay up late, or work my brain ridiculously hard to fit so much information in one night. If you give yourself time and well organize your schedule, you'll be surprised at how much more time we have than perceived. Of course, doing this sort of defines you as a nerd, but I put my education over my social status(Don't worry! I have a good amount of friends, but I don't go to school events like Homecoming dances, sport games, or mall events with my friends). I'm a dork, I know. Lol. Another disadvantage is spending most of your time studying, but hey, physical health > TV/fun time. Try working out, too, like running, walking, jogging, swimming, or playing school sports. Physical exercise will relax you and lead to a healthy body less prone to getting sick.
