It could be stress, your diet, and or the shampoo you use. If you don't mind me asking what brand do you use?(*shampoo)

Sodium Laurel Sulfate (or SLS) is found in most commercially available soaps and shampoos, but being a common ingredient doesn’t mean it’s harmless. It can cause skin irritation, eczema, itchiness, and even damage to the eyes. SLS have been known to damage hair follicles and causes scalp problems including dandruff. But this substance is not easily eliminated from the body, and thus it’s stored in the lymphatics and the organs of the body, thereby potentially causing problems throughout the body too. Shampoos are among the most frequently reported products to the FDA. Reports include eye irritation, scalp irritation, tangled hair, swelling of the hands, face and arms and split and fuzzy hair. The main cause of these problems is sodium lauryl sulfate.
So why is a dangerous chemical like sodium lauryl sulfate used in our soaps and shampoos?
The answer is simple - it is cheap. The sodium lauryl sulfate found in our soaps is exactly the same as you would find in a car wash or even a garage, where it is used to degrease car engines.
In the same way as it dissolves the grease on car engines, sodium lauryl sulfate also dissolves the oils on your skin, which can cause a drying effect. It is also well documented that it denatures skin proteins, which causes not only irritation, but also allows environmental contaminants easier access to the lower, sensitive layers of the skin.
Perhaps most worryingly, SLS is also absorbed into the body from skin application. Once it has been absorbed, one of the main effects of sodium lauryl sulfate is to mimic the activity of the hormone Oestrogen. This has many health implications and may be responsible for a variety of health problems from PMS and Menopausal symptoms to dropping male fertility and increasing female cancers such as breast cancer, where oestrogen levels are known to be involved.

Organix isn't completely "organic" as they say they are. Have you ever tried Burt's Bees shampoos before? I currently use it and I like it, it doesn't lather that well and you might have to get used to it but it's a good thing because lots of foaming and bubbles is BAD -----> Sodium Laurel Sulfate. And like I said before, it may be due to your diet and stress. And :
Oily skin causes hair loss. Besides that, some people just have more active sebaceous glands than others do, so the skin on their faces and on their scalps is more oily.
Problems only occur when there is excessive sebum, resulting in an oily scalp or what is sometimes described as "an over-developed scalp microbial flora." When the scalp becomes oily, it does make it more likely to have Sebum plugs in and around the hair follicles. This plug wraps around the bottom part of the bulb (the reproducing part of the hair),"suffocate it", which eventually results in hair loss. In that sense, the sebum acts as a hair remover.
Adult men and women of all ages can suffer from sebum plug. The sebum plugs should be removed because over time it can become very hard and mixes with cholesterol to form hardened plugs.
An excessively oily scalp can be caused by several different factors. The main ones hormonal changes, heredity, stress, improper diet or environmental factors such as intense heat and humidity.
Hair has its own nature and characteristics and reacts to the slightest influence, internal (like fatigue and stress) or external (such as the sun, wind and pollution). Just like the skin, hair requires perfectly adapted regulators and proper cleansing and nourishment.
To regulate the scalp secretions, for instance, hair should be washed with an antifungal or teatree oil shampoo. (Apple Cider Vinegar is good as well)
Contrary to popular beliefs, it is alright to shampoo your hair daily but be sure to use a `daily shampoo'. However, do not scrub the scalp during shampooing as this causes the scalp to be oily. The proper way to do it is massage the scalp for better blood circulation.
Do note that changes in weather and temperature can also cause problems to the hair unless you give it the best of care.
Also note that all hairs are shed at the end of their growth cycle, so some degree of hair loss is normal. If you have excessive hair loss, it makes sense to first understand the possible causes.

but i switched back to using pantene...it's been getting better. i always used pantene but then i started using the horse mane & tail or w/e it's called. made me lose a handful each time showering and even when i just run my hands through my hair.
i don't worry about going bald though. lol my hair grows too fast.

That was me and I thought it was normal b/c people kept telling me it's normal to lose 100+ hairs a day.
THEN..... I noticed that I'm thinning hair on the top of my head. So much that everyone can see it if i don't cover it up like by teasing it. I look bald you can see my scalp even though I'm not completely bald if thtat makes any sense. =[
Now that i'm reading about the sulfate thing I might try burt's bees.
Thanks

I have used tresemme, sauve, and pantene. I have always lost hair when i shower but it has been only recently that i started lose more than 60 strands. I just lightly run my fingers through my hair to wash away conditioner and i lose the hair. I know all my shampoo has SLS in them, so maybe i need to find some non-sls shampoo.

Using products that are SLS-free will make your hair fall out less compared to using shampoos with SLS and yes even salon shampoos have SLS in them. And we all have different hair types and things will work differently and that's normal, just because it doesn't work for you doesn't mean it won't work for someone else. And if you haven't already , you should read post #11.
