Don't You Hate It When... Asians encourage the stereotypes?

Eg.
"Yeah, I'm flat because I'm Asian." (not ALL asians are flat so quit dragging the rest of your race into it!)
"Well.. I'm living an Asian life... mathbooks and calculators.." (Again, we're not all math nerds)
"OMG.. I look sooo Asian. ugh." (...what's wrong with looking Asian? Quit hating yourself, you're embarassing the rest of us)
"Yeah, my eyes are too tiny because I'm Asian." (Not all of us have Lucy Liu eyes. SHUT it.)
"Oh, that high school's population is like 2/3 Asian. That sucks." (Uh... you're Asian, FYI)
or just generally,
"oh, that is SOOO ASIAN." (in a very negative way, as if the word 'Asian' is an offensive term)
"You're so Asian!" (when making fun of the person)
...and there's many many more examples and I get real pissed. As an Asian myself, I'm damn proud of what I am. But I have fellow Asian friends who'll say these things out loud, especially to their non-Asian counterparts. And THEY get confused, thinking "What's wrong with that? There's nothing wrong", and my Asian friend will just keep adding diss after diss and it really, really gets annoying. It's okay, you hate yourself, we got it. So quit hating on the rest of your race and the people that are actually proud to be Asians.
It's bad enough that we live in a society where Asians are yes, in fact, stereotyped against. (Hollywood being a MAJOR example) So why are you encouraging it by dissing yourselves?
If some non-Asian person makes a racist comment and just laughing about it, it's fine. But don't START it.
I also don't think I'm overreacting. This girl I know...... she's Filipino and apparently doesn't consider herself as Asian, and KEEPS stressing her Spanish last name to her(and my) caucasian friends. And she really dislikes Chinese people because people assume she's one all the time, and she says they are embarassingly loud and abnoxious. And she actually has the guts to sit at work with her caucasian co-workers dissing how 'annoying' Asians are. What the hell is wrong with her? Seriously? She has some real issues with inferiority complex.
UGH. Sorry for the rant. But I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about.

but surprisingly, I don't get all too offended when people say that even if they actually mean it or whatever
I mean, it's their opinion, so let them do whatever the hell they want.
you can't just be all "STFU, YOU'RE ASIAN, DEAL WITH IT!" XD
-- did any of that make sense? haha

"wow chill out it's just a joke"
Are popular means of justification.
It's almost as bad "I'm not racist cause I'm asian too"
Are we supposed to just "get a sense of humor"? I think not. The fact that the media enforces these stereotypes and asians ENCOURAGE it whether it's their intention or not only makes it harder for them.
Want to be funny? Mock others instead of yourself. Of course, people constantly say "if you want to make fun of someone, make fun of yourself" but that's not to be taken literally.

It gets kind of annoying sometimes. A lot of the more popular Asian youtubers do it a lot and it gets really old.

LOL. It's not that easy, kiddo. The fact that I have to see that person every effing day because we carpool together and work together and go to school together.

They don't look Asian? What exactly do Asian people look like then? Small eyes, light skin, straight black hair? Indian people have large eyes and brown skin and there considered Asian. So why can't Filipino people be considered Asian?
Anyways back onto the topic, I just ignore people who say stuff like that.

Stereotypes are not based on half-truths, they're based on truths that apply only to a limited number of members in a particular set of (in this case) humans.
They are a collection of generalizations associated with someone based on some detail, perhaps a physical feature or a personality trait.
They may apply to one person 100%, and may have 0% to do with the guy beside him (or in other words, nothing).
Doesn't matter if they don't know it, that's even more problematic if they don't know it: you can say "well they can't be all too intelligent" but you'd be amazed how many not-so-intelligent people are out there that can completely destroy your lives simply because they have a lot of money or they have a lot of power or they have a lot of status. Why is racism such a problem? Not because the homeless bums out in the suburbs are running their mouths, but because people that actually HAVE any sort of power happen to be racist, and I highly doubt "they can't be all too intelligent". And even if they weren't too bright, they're up there, you're not.
Stereotypes won't disappear if people sort of just ignore it and never say it, but treating them as a JOKE isn't going to help make it disappear either. ALL racist jokes should be taken seriously regardless of the tone they're expressed in.
Someone argued "well look at those comedians, they're making racist jokes". Yes, big difference: they're comedians, you're not.
Speaking of jokes, since most people seem to have some sense of humor, how about I wished others to die as a joke? Maybe talk about my crazed desire for things that kill a lot of people? lol this is an awesome clip
Can't I laugh when other humans die? I mean, I am human after all, so it's ok.

You don't think it's such a bad thing? Have you actually DEALT with real, racist people? Have you ever gotten a taste of how unreasonably ignorant and hostile racists are against certain groups of minorities? And what is 'half-truth'? Something is either true, or it's false. And you really think there will be no difference between an Asian making fun of his/her race infront of non-Asians who MAY already have a narrow perspective of Asians thanks to the media, and an Asian keeping quiet or supporting his/her race infront of non-Asians? I don't know, but the 'real world' isn't always peachy and sweet and full of jokes. There actually ARE incredibly ignorant people yet they are in med schools because they're unbelievably book-smart. Yet, the society they grew up in was encased so small and the knowledge they possess about other race is incredibly bare.
It's sometimes BECAUSE we act like it's okay whether if we actually are or not, act like it's tolerable when in reality, it's not - these things add more fuel to the fire and racism occurs. Yes being cool and laid-back against racism is necessary because there's not much we can do about those ignorant gits. However, like I said, don't shoot yourself in the foot and start it.

P.S. I LOL so hard when you said the Filipino thinks that being Spanish over Asian is better overall. Spanish and Mexicans especially in American have so many negative stereotypes and are probably the race that is ridiculed the most.
