so i bought a phone in china that is a dual sim and it doesn't work on rogers... my friend also bought a phone but his works here.. anyone know why or how i can i get it to work? i'm thinking that my phone is some how locked even though they're not suppose to be. thanks!

It's probably locked, like you suggest. Another possibility is that your phone just doesn't work with your carrier. Some phones require certain things for service that your carrier might not provide. You said your friend bought "a" phone -- is it the same phone you bought or a different one? Them both being Chinese doesn't necessarily mean they will both work over here, or with your carrier.

^ Word. Go to your carriers site or google what frequency-band they use. Look on your phone manual or google what frequency-band it uses. If they're compatible then search how to unlock your phone.

it's an lg sky 8630.. but the thing is i can't find any info on it on the internet! =( my friend also bought an lg phone but he bought it in hong kong. i bought my phone at a phone store not with a carrier like china mobile.. but the phone did work on the china mobile network.. my phone also has an imei # and it is a gsm phone too..
