These are my LEADERSHIP roles, not clubs:
ASB Leadership
Link Crew
People Reaching Out Mentor
SRO Student Leader
Sophomore Class Lt Governor
Advocacy Class Representative
Adventure Club President
Basketball Manager
Junior Class
Webpage Manager
GPA:
9th: 3.83, 4.17 (Honors Bio, Honors English)
10th: 3.71, 4.00 (AP World, H. Geometry, H. English)/Physiology with "A's" both terms - Senior Class as a Sophomore
11th: Aiming for 4.4-4.5gpa (Advanced Edu at Comm. College, APUSH, H. English, H ALG2)
Additional Info: Each semester of classes, the grades have been raised up.
However, I've done lots of clubs and basketball for my sophomore year.
I believe it is the main reason why my gpa got lower. =/
Any suggestions?

Make sure you go over your ESSAYS with your counselors/English teachers/etc.
A lot of my friends who got into UCLA/UCB had really steady test scores and nearly straight As through their 4 years in high school. Steady test scores mean 750-800 for SATIIs and SAT I/ACT maybe like mid 2000s and higher 30s for ACTs.

I haven't tooken my SAT's-ACT's yet. I am barely starting my junior year! =X I have a letter sent home from my school about the ACT's and they're offering a practice test around my area. I never really understood the scores I can get from there but I should really study for them! I don't know how I should though. =/ Thanks for being the first to reply!

Hey dopa! Thanks for the reply. I find it interesting that you go to Davis. I heard that it's hard to communicate within the school? Is that true? I find Davis a surrounding full of friendly people! Ohh and I love the Borders in Downtown!

Lol, asians? I don't really see much to be quite honest. Mainly Americans. I don't know why. Maybe it's just in Downtown. What do you think is fun to do around there? I can't believe the closest mall is in Sacramento though! I don't see anything in Davis to do unless it's just like movie theaters or getting ice cream. Have you ever visited UC Berkeley?

good luck on testing and make sure you stay focused and do well on your tests + grades!
also, PSATs! aim for that national merit scholarship!
uc berkeley is filled with brilliant people and professors. the only thing is that i hate the buildings haha
the city is full of life and there's always something to do, and so many places to fit in
also cut down on the clubs and focus on a few.
a lot of clubs and activities means NOTHING unless you really have something to talk about

That's all I have to say about it.
Realistic, but you need a 2100+ SAT 1. A few 800's on your SAT 2's wouldn't hurt.

That score isn't always everything if you go to a crappy high school. (most people I know who got into Cal don't have scores like these since we didn't go to a competitive high school. more like 1800-1900 sat scores

Despite all that (I hope I didn't scare you, hah), I think you have a very good chance. Very realistic. Write good essays (:

Your Gpa is pretty high! I dont know why you didn't get in but just a few days ago my Avid teacher said that being secretary isn't important. I always thought it was a higher rank compared to being a treasurer. But he said that being a secretary isn't anything because all you're doing is taking notes..

Personally, I think it's hard to judge what berkeley/la material is.
About 20-25 people from my graduating class got accepted to LA. Nearly the same estimate for Cal.
I went to a public HS, nothing amazing, but it wasn't crappy either.
Some of my classmates who got accepted were valedictorians, had SAT scores ~2200, years and years of sports, music, leadership positions, community service, working, and the typical expected stuff.
On the other hand, my SAT score was in the 1700s (no ACT), never played any sports, no music, I had one leadership position for two years. I did take a lot of community service, work, and had several college classes on my transcript though. I had a 4.1 weighted gpa (3.8 unweighted?). I got into Davis, LA, and Cal, but not San Diego.
I don't mean to belittle myself compared to other Cal/LA students

Too bad I don't fully understand the scores for the ones below the regular SAT score!! =/ I suck! I met a US History teacher today at Borders and we were talking about the SAT's and whatnot. i tried studying for them and I guess it's a bit challenging! And btw I meant like your gpa's in high school, extracurricular activities. haha! =) I hope you remember though! That would be very interesting to know!

Lol, your AVID teacher is so wrong. I went through hell being sec my senior year. Being a secretary in a 200+ -member high school club is different than being secretary in an office. I did take notes, yeah, but that's only the beginning. I had to organize everything for our prom (order, call, organize) and activities throughout the school year. Also, the thing is, you won't be able to put down all your ECs down on your application (I was horrified when I found out; I was in like every freaking club). There is a limit (I think somewhere in between 5-10) so pick and choose which ECs you want to brag about wisely. Don't only choose things that concern school, put a few non-school activities down so it shows your wide rage of extra curricular activities.

Omg! I know, I'd be super pissed off if I were you.. with the limits and all. I found out just recently that it's limited up to 10 or so. They're tabs huh! And my avid teacher was talking about the clubs not the office lol. Idk, maybe its just different since we dont live in the same area and whatnot. Its hard to decide what clubs to put down, for me at least.. I'm gona put down all the leadership roles I have. But for the clubs I was in Southeast asians furthering education (ive been in that club the longest in terms of commitment). I joined enviro club.. Sounds kinda.. geeky? Idk if I should put that down. All the other clubs.. kinda not important. I joined Punjabi and hmong club as a freshmen but stopped.. Oh and vietnamese student association..! It's important to be involved with your culture but helllllllll.. I was done with it freshmen year.
