hello biggrin.gif
i'll be a freshman at the university of washington this september. I'm currently trying to find the cheapest price on the internet for my textbooks. I need two textbooks and one study guide book for my intro to psychology class. I've searched these three books and it seems like chegg.com has the most cheapest one ( chegg.com is a book rental site). I read some reviews on chegg.com and bookrentals.com but they're both mixed reviews and i'm not sure if they're reliable or not. If anyone has used chegg.com or bookrentals.com, can you give me some feedback on their shipping, customer service, and book conditions? I need to order my books soon, i'm moving up to seattle on september 25th!
thanks in advance:]

I never tried online book rentals before, so can't help you there sleep.gif;
but have you tried half.com? Some books on there are fairly cheap... cheaper than amazon at least...
But it could possibly be cheaper to just buy a book from someone who already took the course. Most colleges (i think... I know mine does...) have networks where students can trade/sell/buy books from each other. They sell it pretty cheap since a) it's a lot cheaper than what they would get if they sold it to the book store and b ) they want to get rid of the book. So try to see if your school has one of those.

Shipping for Chegg was really fast. I placed an order on on 8/24 and got my books on 8/26. They had priority shipping (3-7 days) for about $7 but I used a 10% coupon code so that took off the cost of shipping and then some. Overall it was pretty good.

You can just google the 10% coupon code to find it and other codes.

mm sometimes the professors dont use the textbooks they list
so its better to go to class first and see if you really need it since textbooks are expencive nowadays ><

but i get my textbooks on ebay&half.com
its cheaper compared from amazon smile.gif

^ I don't recommend you wait until your first class. If you do, you'll be anxious to get your books faster (so you won't be behind and all that good stuff). Then you'll pay more for the books sold at the college bookstore. I would rather buy them beforehand online (almost always half the price, in my experience) and return them if the professor doesn't use it. Or, even better, sell it at your own bookstore. Saves time, anxiety, and money. (:

I also get most of my books from Amazon and Half. I always compare the two but they usually have similar prices.

i searched reviews of chegg.com on google and people said that customer service was bad and that it took a while for them to get their books. hmm, how was the book condition?

I used Chegg.com to get most of my textbooks this year. They were a lot cheaper than buying the textbooks at the school bookstore and somewhat cheaper than sites like Amazon or Half. They ship the books pretty quickly and they're all in very good condition.

You can type in the code "YOLK" at checkout to get free 2nd day shipping, i think.

Also, if you do decide to buy from Chegg.com, can you put my referral code in? If I refer people, I get $5 for every transaction. My code is CC102830. You can also sign up and refer people if you use Chegg.com.

Sorry, I meant free priority shipping. That means you should get the book within 4 to 7 days from the day you order. It's usually $5.49 per book for priority shipping.

If you have any questions, you can message me and i'll answer them.

My genetics book was brand new (hardcover) and my music book was in very good condition also with no highlighting. And if you don't like the condition of the book that Chegg sends to you then you can send it back to them (for free since it's free returns) and ask for another one in better condition. Just call them first to let them know.

i would recommend emailing the TA and asking if the textbooks are absolutely necessary for the course.
there have been plenty of classes where some books weren't even needed. and intro to psych classes are large classes which means a lot of students selling back their books.
have you checked facebook marketplace? that way you can save money on shipping and get the book the quickest.

i try to buy off other students first otherwise i usually use half.com

you can always have the books shipped to school. don't worry. at the beginning of the semester, i'm sure you could get by with a few weeks of just lecture notes or theres always course reserves at the library

i used chegg for the first time this semester, and i got my books really fast - within 2 days. all 3 books were in good condition (one of my books looks like it's never been used o_o).

you can try and see if other students at your school are selling their books, or check out amazon, half.com, textbooks.com, etc. :]

Personally, I'm using Facebook to buy my textbooks. It's students selling to students, so the prices are really low and we just meet up on campus to exchange.
