"Drop Dead Diva" is Lifetime's spirited new comedic drama series that puts a wildly unique and entertaining spin on the complex issues of a woman's identity in today's world.

The show tells the story of a beautiful-but-vapid model wannabe, Deb, who has a fatal car accident and suddenly finds herself in front of Heaven's gatekeeper, Fred, who declares her a self-centered "zero." Outraged, Deb attempts to persuade Fred to return her to her shallow existence but is accidentally relegated to the body of the recently deceased Jane Bingum (Brooke Elliott). A brilliant, thoughtful and plus-size attorney with a loyal assistant (Margaret Cho), Jane has always lived in the shadow of her more comely colleagues, whereas Deb has always relied on her external beauty. Now, by a twist of fate and a bolt of divine intervention, Deb must come to terms with inhabiting Jane’s plus-size frame and learn to reconcile her beauty queen ways with her brilliant new mind. - Credits to mylifetimes.com

Has anyone seen this series? It's pretty entertaining and there's a meaning to each episode. I find myself liking it very much. Lol. I miss the character Fred too TT_TT

Oh my gosh, the other day I was wondering if there was a thread for this show. It's the first show in quite awhile that I look forward to seeing a new episode every week. I think it's such a well written and well casted show. The show is funny but not so silly that we can't feel that they are sincere about the message they are trying to tell in each episode. And I love Brooke Elliott as Jane/Deb! She can convey both girls so convincingly, and she has wonderful comedic timing. When she's feeling the pains of not having Grayson know that she's Deb, it pulls my heartstrings. I'm a bit of a sap, obviously. And then her supporting cast were perfect for their roles. I think my two favorite characters aside from Jane/Deb are Deb's best friend, Stacy, and Jane/Deb's assistant, Teri. I miss Fred, too! I was thinking, "Finally!" when he and Stacy went on the date, but it was so short lived. sad.gif And the end of the last most recent episode really sucked too. I really didn't want Grayson and Kim to get together, though it was pretty obvious they'd hook up eventually. :'(

But yeah, I totally love this show!

Edit: T__T Sorry mAdNeSs! if I spoiled it for you, putting spoiler tags up.

I was wary with if I should put the spoiler tags up or not. Maybe I will....but the season's not over yet over here! We're still in the middle of the show....or at least the last ep I saw wasn't the last of the season; tonight there is a new episode!

I haven't seen this show (I keep forgetting it's on), but it seems to have something to say about brains vs beauty that is undermined by the fact that the superficial girl doesn't just get a body swap, but a partial brain swap as well. Those who have seen the show, what do you think?

Also, are the messages Touched by an Angel/7th heaven preachy? or is the show more open and entertaining?

I think the transition that Deb has to undergo in being Jane is very well executed. She obviously is distressed that she's not tiny, and she has to give into the cravings for doughnuts and food Jane loves, but she, one day at a time, learns to accept who she is.

Oh no, it's nothing like "Touched By An Angel" or "7th Heaven". It's much more entertaining. There was a case where a woman was suing a doctor for curing her husband's multiple personality disorder. The doctor got rid of the personality the wife did not fall in love with, so she wanted a refund. Bahaha.

I like it but there must be something going on behind the scenes with the guy who plays the Guardian Angel. I guess he got fired.

I caught an episode this week. It was the one where her parents were getting a divorce + the dog thing. I realised that I was wrong about what I thought earlier, it looks like her brain upgrade isn't a mind meld but more like Gunn's thing in Angel.

I don't quite get the change that Deb is meant to be experiencing as Jane. What was she like as Deb? Because she doesn't seem like such a bad or stupid person, except in that shot in the credits, and considering her parents and fiance who seem like smart, sophisticated people.

Oh, is this 'Kim' people are mentioning the pinkberryy lawyer?

I like Fred, but the girl playing Stacey is a terrible actress.
