For example, this summer, I had full time summer school and I had such a hard time motivating myself to do some exercise. As such, I only lost a few pounds - very far from my ideal weight.
So do you have any tips of how I can stick to exercising while being at school?

I should do 15 minute podcasts for soompi which will be R-rated where I motivate you through the mean STYOH!
You two need some really awesome excuses because there is a kid in a wheelchair showing up at my gym working out. By himself because he can nor will ever be able to walk. When you find something better then permanently paralyzed I'll accept your soompixcuses!

It's a valid excuse , because i know what it's like to go to school for 8 hours and come home just wanting to go to bed and rest.
The best thing to do to combat that is to get 8 hours of sleep before school, and eating lunch at school to give you energy to keep going through out the day. Try to restrain yourself from taking naps, if you get used to doing it , it would become difficult to stop.
When you get home you can try eating something again and exercise when you no longer feel tired.

During the semester: As a girl, I have classes starting at 9, but I wake up around 4:30 in the morning to get in my morning workout. Yes. 4:30 A.M. My friends call it my military-style workout. But because I'm so busy during the rest of the day, I cannot find any other time to squeeze in my workout. And plus, I'm a morning bird so morning workouts is the way I prefer to start my day. Then, I shower and get ready for the commute to school. The rest of the day I'm energized and avoid the fatigue that I used to feel when I didn't work out. I've been doing this for a solid 6 months (along with a healthy diet) and I'm at the point where if I don't work out like my normal routine, I get a little grumpy lol. Of course there are some mornings where I don't want to get up at 4:30 but I always remind myself that losing weight is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. Sometimes you just gotta push through the pain to experience the joy. My advice to you is always remind yourself that losing weight isn't going to be a walk in the park; you gotta put in work. No pain, no gain. Sometimes weeks can go by and you don't see results, you might even get discouraged and resort back to your unhealthy habits. But, like all things in life, if you commit to it and persevere --- it'll pay off. For me, I always think if I'm not losing weight (either seeing it on the scale or losing inches) --- I'm still gaining health. I can climb stairs now without huffing and puffing; I have more energy to do things and don't feel like I need to power-nap around 3 or 4 in the afternoon). And because exercise releases endorphins, you feel less stressed and a little more happy.
During the summer: Obviously I didn't wake up at 4:30 in the morning to work out during the summer. But I did more intense workouts because I had time on my hands, but I used the summer to build up my strength and stamina --- I have all the right tools to not only keep me exercisng, but motivated.
I rambled on too much, but basically this is my personal experience. Exercising & Losing weight is your personal effort. It depends on how much you want to get in shape and how much you care about yourself and your body to take care of it. Of course it's okay to take days off to let your body rest and recover, but be careful of relasping into your old habits. To be motivated, try exercising with your favorite songs added to a playlist; think about all the reasons why you want to get in shape, and just know that by exercising and eating right, you're doing yourself a huge favor in the long-run. Oh, understand also it's a lifestyle change --- not a quick fix to lose weight if you want to keep weight off permanently. I speak from experience because I've been through the yo-yo dieting phase and it really takes a toll on your mind and body. So take it one day at a time and you'll see results either feeling healthier or losing weight =)

^ and handicapped people don't get tired? I'll leave it at that. But I hope you keep in mind that someone disabled, when reading your post may feel offended by the message you are communicating about the handicapped.

Also, I go to university, but I still go to them gym 2-3 times a week, just after I get home from school/days off/weekends etc. I always get soo tired after school, but exercising get my heartrate up and the blood is pumping and I find studying so much easier after that
Maybe you should try some new activity? A new fun sport or something. I go to the gym to lift weights, even though I'm a girl. But I think it's fun to push yourself and really see the results in weight and strenght (no, I don't get macho muscles... I'm still a girl (: )
There is so much you could do: going to the gym, swimming, running, walking, dancing at home to your favorite music.
Just do something to get your blood pumping and it will feel so great
Of course, there will be times when you don't have the time because of too much schoolwork. But at least 20 minutes could probably fit in there somewhere

Are you paying attention to what you're eating? Losing or maintaining weight I think is more about what you're eating than how much you're exercising, though that's just an opinion (and I certainly don't mean to suggest that exercise isn't necessary... just that eating healthy meals > reluctantly exercising when you're tired and stressed out as it is).
But for just exercise, multitasking helps. Sometimes I read while I'm on a stairmaster(?) and I think some people do that on treadmills too though I don't think I could manage it. If you're missing out on time for friends you could maybe invite a friend to go on a run with you? Even a long walk is better than nothing. Sometimes I read while I walk but it's not such a good idea if there's a lot of people or bikes where you're walking. If you're looking into working at all, get a job that requires some physical exertion, like waitressing... but again I see no real benefit in using more energy than you have to spare (unless it's more just laziness than fatigue. sometimes it's hard to tell and it's only when you have no choice that you realize you have more energy than you thought).
I don't think she meant to imply that handicapped people don't get tired, and I might be reading things incorrectly but I don't see why a person with a disability would be offended by her post. One of my best friends is in a wheelchair and my instincts say she might actually take more offense to what you said; I can't speak for anyone but I know she doesn't need or want people to consider her especially heroic for striving to do something an able-bodied person can do.

I find those that have climbed higher mountains then I to be worthy of respect. You can learn a lot from people that have more barriers put in front of them. Based on your ability to read your friends mind I would respect her opinion just as I would expect her to respect mine. Granted I am speaking specifically about wheelchair bound guys and girls that show up to the gym and throw down as much effort as I do, as well as being consistent at the dinner table. I think you may have misunderstood my statement to be one of pity "just because they are handicapped". That is not the case - I only pity those that remain static, that do not mature and whom squander time with little to no forward progress in any aspect of their lives. See - soompiers that repeatedly start over on day 1, month after month, year after year on soompi health & fitness. With the knowledge that a person's health has a correlation to all other aspects of their life.
To each - their own opinion! Nice post by the way as you pointed out clarification was needed.

This is my first year in college and I'm the worst at organizing schedules and sticking to them. But, my roomie and most of the people on my floor are very serious about working out regularly, so we all go together. I'm naturally very competitive, so when we all go work out, I want to stay at their level of energy and so I work really hard to keep up. It's really helped and, although I don't have a scale, I feel like I've lost some weight (which I may gain back because of the awful college food, hehe)

What I did to motivate myself was learning from the past. Every year I try to lose weight because I screw up during vacation, I pig out (bad, bad). Look at what you did wrong during the summer and change that, then you'll see results on your new workout plan. Look at what you're eating and evaluate yourself. And trust me, when you start working out, you get incredible energy that is great for studying and going to school. I sleep better, feel better and live better when I work out. So throw out all the excuses and start exercising
