Anyone play pickup basketball? If so, where and what days do ya guys usually play? Does amazing happen? Tell me the stories!

Possibly a Soompi Basketball Tourney in the works? Haha.

As for me, I usually play at my school. We have a recently built rec center. Also, I'm taking basketball class for the fun of it. I take it every semester for more organized play. I love playing at Korean churches because it's just fun dominating your own ethnicity. 24 hour is competitive, but the wait is 1 hour minimum during peak hours.

I play at my local community centre, usually get about 9 guys together and reserve ourselves a court or something there and play. It's really intense since all the guys played ball for the highschool, where I never bothered and probably wasnt good enough to make it. Now its a bit of a different story, I'm not the best there by far, but some of the guys who use to take me to school are taking lessons from me if you know what im saying wink.gif

Usually play on a Saturday, cause thats when everyone is free.

Usually when I'm on a good team, we just out run our opponents. If I'm on a bad team, I find myself doing my best hold down my opponent. I need to gain my stroke back.

When I was little (3rd - 8th Grade) we would play every Friday & Saturday on the streets. In high school, I would play random areas at elementary schools, churches, & parks. During my college days, I would play at the recreation center at least once or twice a week.

Now that I'm finish with school, I just practice at home by myself. sad.gif

You can google adult basketball league and see what comes up.
Find one near you.

See if there is a team that has a room for another player.

This one is in Orange County, CA. It should have lot of Asians in this league.

I play point forward + coach boys basketball grades 4 - 6 throughout the year for a league.

Pick-up ball can get frustrating because you get players who just plain suck, don't defend or rebound and/or just hog the ball.

You can score all you want, but if your teammates suck then they just suck.

Taking shots from 22 feet away when there's an open lane just shows something.

I had to coach this one kid who was the biggest on the team so I made him the focus for scoring in the post. But no, what does this kid do, he takes jump shots from 18 feet away. I did the math and told him he shot like 15% off jump shots so he better stop before he gets benched.

"Oh yeah? Well I'm better than you coach."

Benched. And I told his parents.

I used to play at the parks, and school was extremely active during my high school years but never really got into it in a competitive way. Just wanted to play to have fun....... Then I started smoking that ended it all lol.

Take care of your fingers if you are just pick up basketsball... the first time I played basketball was also the last time.
My friend threw a really fast pass to me.. I tried to catch the ball but it hit my index finger instead. I could still remember the pain and agony when it first hit my finger... the pain was really unbearable!
