Reasons to buy
•HD Radio: Get more stations and better sound, without fees. The new Zune HD gives you access to many local HD Radio stations for more sports, news, and music with crystal-clear digital sound at no extra cost.

•OLED touchscreen: Get instant access to your content with multi-touch navigation. With a 3.3-inch size and vivid 16:9 display (480 x 272 resolution), truer and brighter entertainment is at your fingertips.

•Internet browsing: Surf the Web anytime, anywhere you have a Wi-Fi connection. Check email, traffic, and news with a well-featured optimized Web browser, including a touchscreen QWERTY keyboard.

•HD-compatible video: Play high quality video on the go or on your HDTV. Watch supported 720p HD movies, TV shows, and videos in high definition on your HDTV through the Zune HD AV Dock (sold separately).

•Wireless: Buy, stream, and update your music and download free games wirelessly via a Wi-Fi connection. You can also wirelessly sync your Zune HD to your home PC via your home network.

Some wallpapers for Zune HD colr.

Can't wait 'til Tuesday. I have two preordered. One for me and one for my dad. Definitely going to get a Zune Pass. Zune Pass is $14.99 a month, you get to keep 10 MP3's, and you have unlimited rental downloads until your subscription is up. It's a good way to explore new music, which is what I'm using it for. If you're content with what you got, then just bypass the Zune Pass.

Buy.com just posted up some promotional videos that explain what Zune's all about. The Portable Perfection video shows a 3D Racing game being played on a Zune, which pretty much seals the deal in terms of how capable the Zune HD is as a potential gaming platform.

Zune HD does support Unicode. Asian characters show up correctly.

I got to my BestBuy a little before 10am (opening). Went straight to MP3 and there was 4 other people waiting there for the Zune HD as well, heh.

I'm very pleased so far with it. Once you start to use it a bit, it feels less of an iPod touch competitor. The main thing is all about music first, then other multimedia/apps later. Like I stated before, the iPod Touch is more of a microPC thanks to the open app store they have.

I like the features and the build. But I think their decision to use a lower resolution screen (its lower than the touch) was bad. And I am sad they haven't said the zune browser is super fast or anything.

I will have to go to a store to take a look at the screen, I have been curious about how OLED looks in real life.

OLED is niiiice. I haven't seen the Zune HD yet but I have seen the XEL-1 which is an 11" OLED screen. I hope this technology becomes cheaper soon so we can see it replacing leds on notebook and monitor screens asap.

The resolution maybe smaller, but that's because the screen is smaller. At the end of the day, the Zune HD has a greater PPI (Pixel per inch) than the iPod Touch, so you could imagine how sharp the photos appear.

Nonetheless, the screen is fricken VIBRANT. Colors are just oozing with life.

got a 16gb zhd last night (the last one ohmy.gif) but i'm planning to return it and get a 32gb and as an ipod touch owner i LOVE this thing.

the only things i would complain about are...
- plain black background, no user customization
- no play/pause button on the bottom of screen while playing music
- no external volume control

1. True, but at least you could customize the screensaver/lock.
2. Yea but look at the physical body. It isn't really doable, and had they done it, I wouldn't find the Zune HD sleek as it is now.
3. True, but both 2 and 3 are resolved by the quick launch button on the left. You can press it anytime, even when the Zune is locked, and it will bring up your volume/play screen.

It takes time to get used to, but I've already adjusted after playing with it all day. As for the user interface, not a single criticism.

Are there any stores that should have it on display?

Walmart doesn't have it and bestbuy didn't have it. Haha strange.

Really? I'm surprised BestBuy didn't. I asked the guy at MP3 if Microsoft was sending them a demo unit to display. He said it's unlikely, that they'd have to use one of the new boxed one and set it up to display. So it might be because that BestBuy you went to sold out and had none to setup as a display, or they don't want to.

Nonetheless, awdark, I can show you the Zune HD at campus if I see you around, lol.

Nothing to regret about, Ipod touch and Zune HD are not in the same category, Zune HD is a purely for music and videos Ipod touch is a mini computer, which you can do a lot more with biggrin.gif

I think Unicode is now supported for the older models with the new update they have as well.
Not too sure since nobody seems to be reviewing the new update for the older hardware and I don't have my Zune 30 anymore to verify.

The Zune HD is only available in the US at the moment. The 16GB model is $220 while the 32GB is $290.

well the only reason i wasn't going to get one was b/c lack of language support, but if it does support korean i might have to reconsider
