QUOTE (mikez @ Oct 3 2009, 09:28 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
GTR disappoint me the most because its suppose to be an affordable supercar but its not. I've worked my ass off and save up enough money to buy a car of my dreams, ain't no way in hell I'll get a Nissan when I get a Gallardo or an Aston for the same price.

people consider the GTR an "affordable supercar" cause it is. it does what its suppose to... performs better than most supercars at a fraction of the price.

but ill be crazy if i say everyone races on a track. if i had one of these super cars (cheap one or not), ill be using it to get groceries and to drive my kid to public school, lol

QUOTE (mikez @ Oct 3 2009, 02:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I was also at the Porsche dealer 2 weeks ago and they sold a brand new GT2 for as much as the Nissan dealer charged for a GTR.

seeing how a brand new GT2 has a msrp of up to $223K, i dont see one selling for anywhere near half of that brand new... even in this economy. you mustve mistaken a used 997 911 turbo for a new GT2
QUOTE (Krn_Track_Star @ Jan 13 2009, 07:01 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times

Nope, its a black on black GT2, I was talking to salesmen who was mounting the plate and the owner who bought it. Which is why I said GTR is not an affordable supercar, its a full fledge supercar with a Nissan badge.

I took a pic of it, I'll see if I can upload the pic from my cellphone later.

there's a few gt2's at local dealer here near Roseville. one is used with 12k miles and it's still going for $150k(ish). Even that is considered a steal. even eBay prices are higher

You cant look at sticker prices for those cars, the same dealer where the dude bought the GT2 had 99 Carrera's sticker selling for mid 60's K but we all know the market value for a 993 Carrera is some where in the mid 30's. Right now there is an incentive for 911 from the factory for 10k, and people have been buying new 997S for 70k with cash brand new when the MSRP for the car is ~100k.

That GT2 was the only one they had, the dealer got the car when it first came out (almost 2 years now), and they can't move it. If you do some research, the current prices of GT2 and GT3 RS are dropping at the rate of 10k/year or 12k~13k per 1000 miles. I guess this dealer was unfortunate being close to NY and most of its customer base went down the drain with the market lol

And also, the car was 110k, around 130k otd including all the fees and taxes. A tad bit more than the GTR, which I've seen around for 100k~110k.

makes sense, if the gt2 was 2yrs old too. also i feel bad for the people who paid 40-50k premium on the GTR

Here are the pics as promised. As you can see, its a GT2, not a used 911. Doubt my car knowledge again and I will smack you tongue.gif

I also saw this at the dealer

Paul Miller Porsche, Rt 46 off highway in north NJ. You Cali people enjoy a healthy car economy, so your prices don't tank as much it is here, I am starting my search now... waiting, and within this past month a lot of very expensive rides are popping up all over the NE for super cheap.

Like this one 2009 AM DB9 with 3k on the odo selling for 79k... private seller, must be in need of money bad, If you want a DD supercar or exotic car, why would anyone take a GTR over this unless they absolutely dreamt about owning a GTR since a kid... in which 80% of them aren't even old enough to drive yet.

so that they can take it out to the track on weekends and lap cars like that DB9. theres actually people out there who is performance oriented. not everyone is worried about how other people view themselves based on what they drive.

Yea no doubt, but say you are around 40 and you finally saved up enough money to get yourself something nice this once in your life, I think buying a 100k car for tracking would be a lower priority when you can do it in a 50k Lotus or Corvette.

I see the GTR more as a 2nd car for tracking and groceries getting when you already got a nice 400k car for bringing your female counter part out on the weekends lol, or for those hardcore import heads.

What? No reasoning?

I'll agree that while the GT-R has a stupid amount of markup, I personally can't see myself in a European car unless I'm an old man with lots of money, maybe then I'll consider a 911 or even a DB7 if that's possible. While I'm a big fan of the GT-R, I can't deny the clean looks of the GT2 or even the R8 for that matter. If they put a TDI engine in the R8, then I would drive it for sure.

It may be true that tiptronic isn't manual, but tell me, what advantage does manual have over a clutchless manual? Lambo has quite an innovative clutchless manual. So you can't say that all manuals are better or faster than clutchless.

form or function. I guess thats one set of choices for the buyer. most will have fun with manual transmission with a clutch pedal. but how much fun will you really have when you know you are shifting significantly slower than a GTR with a twin clutch transmission with paddle shifters? don't mistake this transmission system with the ones you see from older cars either. this thing shifts at 2 tenths of a second. no human being can shift that fast with a conventional clutch/manual tranny.

and I really can't see how anyone can look down on a GTR just because it has a Nissan badge. everyone knows what the car can do and how much it costs. no 16 year old is driving one. It doesn't have a high markup cause it's a crappy car. thats like saying "ohh dam! an Audi r8... that looks sick. I wonder how many times it broke down already? or how bad the electrical problems are?"
