I want to make the Dean's List this semester (and next), but it is really something to be real proud of? I mean, making a high GPA is great but it doesn't seem like a great accomplishment. Obviously, I still want to make it no matter what. Dig, what I'm saying?

I think it's more of a personal accomplishment. I go to a small college, so the list isn't even that big, and there isn't that much done about it either. I'm proud of myself, but I don't really do anything about it. LOL. It just feels good to know I'm recognized by the school as a good student.

Haha, I don't even care anymore since I get it every semester. I want to throw away the papers but my parents always complain and keep them. tongue.gif

^LOL at least you got a certificate. I got a message on my account saying I made it. My sister got a certificate though. All that means for me is a few extra opportunities for loans. :/ Ahhh...it's a fancy title for nothing really.

Maybe it's different at your school. I say shoot for it. At least you'll have bragging rights, and it looks good on your transcript. wink.gif

it depends on your major. if you're in a hard science or engineering it's worth something.

After getting it every semester, it doesn't even matter to me anymore...I don't even get a certificate or anything, it's just listed in my transcript...yay...this semester I can't get on the list even if my gpa is high enough cause I'm not taking enough credits sleep.gif

The happiest for me was when I was given a $300 award from a club at my school for my high gpa, totally owns Dean's List!

You are better off being on it than not. Most internships and jobs during your college years do take GPA into consideration and this gives them something to look at when making their decision. Where I go they send you a signed letter from the Dean for having the top 10% in your class and the President's list is top 5%.

The criteria for making Dean's List vary quite a bit, so unless you're familiar with a particular school, it's tough to tell what it means for someone to have made it. This is also a problem with latin graduation honors.

As a community college student, GPA is definitely important if you want to transfer to a good school. It is notsomuch about getting on the Dean's List, but more about the GPA grade itself. By having a good grade it sets up some better opportunities for scholarships/grants and it also can even later affect employment opportunities as well.

Specifically for transfer students, GPA determines what university you transfer to! For this, I feel that many CC students are more prepared for university than freshmen are.

For me, it is a big accomplishment and shows that I am a good student and that I am learning the material (although I would take an easy 'A' over learning the material any day). Specifically for UC students and those hoping to transfer, a 4.0gpa also gives full tuition scholarships. Now how about getting a bachelor's degree debt-free?

i got on it last semester and i didn't even know until two months after the semester ended and i randomly got the certificate in the mail. i didn't tell anyone because i personally think my GPA isn't high enough. i got one C from this retard of a professor during my first semester. if you go to a public/community college, it isn't that important in my opinion. but it is an accomplishment nonetheless in any school. i go to a private college and they gave me more money in grants and scholarships. i'm not sure if it was in conjunction with my parents' income or because i got on the dean's list. personally for myself i felt accomplished but i also felt like my GPA isn't high enough.

Back in college (which was not long ago), I got into the Dean's List thrice and I was so happy because I got to be rewarded with money. So for me, it's not because of the feeling of accomplishment, it's about the money!! Wooohooo! I was never really the smart student, I just use my common sense most of the time.

LOL! I just figured out that I'm replying in the wrong section. Coz I'm working already. hahah!

to me personally i want to be on the dean list every semester maybe b.c im a competitive person and wanna be proud of my hard work. i guess as each semster goes by it will be tougher since the classes are going to be harder. in my school you need at least a 3.5 to be on the dean list.
