So, I wrote and recorded this song back in May of 2009 to a beat by Hygrade Productions. I really love the beat, it's kind of got this Ne-Yo-ish shuffle going on. Anyways, I wrote the song to perform at the finale show for the Asian American Film Festival hosted by A.A.A. at UC Davis.
It's kind of neat 'cause it's in this place vocally that I wouldn't necessarily go, so the result is a bit different than something I'd usually do. Anyways, it's basically a song about being with someone and it's gotten to that point where it hurts to be with them, but you still love them and you'll do anything to make them love you back. Yup.
Say You Love Me
You're looking in my eyes
I'm out of my mind
As you say the words
I'm hearing you say
You say you love me
But I think it's a line
'Cause you're killing me
With all of the pain
I know I gotta walk away
But still I just can't leave
Boy, I need you next to me
Need you like the air I breathe
And baby, I would give the world
To spend my life with you
Love you is all I can do
I'm telling you now
(Chorus)
Ooh baby, won't you
Say you love me now?
And I'll forgive you if you
Say you love me now
And I could give you, boy
Every little part of me
You're every little thing I need
So say you love me now
I gave my all to you
So many times
But you never really
Gave me your heart
I gave it all to you
But, boy, you left me hangin'
Like a rose grown up
In the dark
And baby, I know that I
Really gotta let you go
Even when you hold me close
Feel the way you leave me cold
But baby, I don't wanna
Lose the way I feel with you
Boy, I'm still in love with you
I'm telling you now
(Repeat Chorus)
'Cause baby, all I wanted was you
And now that you're gone
I just don't know what I should do
(Repeat Chorus)
You're every little part of me
You're every little thing I need
So say you love me now

Grrr... How can you not tell me about this!
I feel so hurt T-T Anyway...
Always loving your song lyrics, and for some reason this was close to how i was about to feel but it's all resolved.
And I love how you sing or writes songs that people can relate to.

The chorus is probably my favorite part;
Ooh baby, won't you
Say you love me now?
And I'll forgive you if you
Say you love me now
And I could give you, boy
I like the flow of it.XD and i like this line too, Like a rose grown up
In the dark, did you make it up? (: clever.

stripesoflove - Thank you! Ah, yeah, the "Like a rose grown up in the dark" line I made up 'cause I was trying to find something that fit the "Boy, you left me hanging" line before it, and I was thinking like, if you have a flower and you try to grow it without light, it ends up falling flat over and looking sickly. It was an experiment we did in like junior high science class, so that's where it comes from.
tigerclan - Thank you very much! Yeah, I do most of my original songs in the pop/R&B genre. This one's the exception more because it's in a different vocal range than I'm used to singing in, but I'm glad you like it!

Doesn't matter man, keep doing what you do, because your modest skills and talent (hate using this word but had to) shines naturally without the neccessary hype that others get.
I can't say much about your singing, because I've said it before, it's very smooth, very nice. I like your style. Because you always pitch your songs at the pitch you work best at, you always produce quality clips.
Seeing how I always post positive supportive comments to you always, it'd probably be better to post more construtive comments too.
I only heard a few things whilst listening to your songs, a ) when layers overlap each other, it really started to clutter more, b ) a few notes stood out because it was dynamically louder.
But really, a lovely song indeed. I really digged it.

szechuanie - Haha, yeah, but I really did appreciate the comment on YouTube! Thank you very much and thanks for your support! =D
miakamaxine - I'm fairly certain you meant to post this on the thread with the guy dancing to "Nobody" for his JYP audition.
sikkony - Thank you for your comments and criticism. I definitely hear what you're saying about the overlapping layers, I think it probably could've been mixed better and panned out more so that the main vocal sitting in the center channel wasn't quite as cluttered. I'll be sure to watch out for the volumes and even-ness more carefully as well.

HAHAHHAHA. wtf. "it was an experiment we did in junior high" hahaha
Who knew something we did in junior high could help us come up with a great line for an awesome song? LOL.
So where can i download this? i cant find it anywhere. Its a hassle to load it everyday on youtube, yo.

your voice is absolutely gorgeous. it's appropriately smooth and matches the r&b-style perfectly. you bring forth the emotion within the lyrics very nicely, and the lyrics are just..*___* kyaaaaa i love this. :3
keep it up! i'm looking forward to hearing more from you.
p.s. thank you for the download link! downloaded + subscribed. 8)

It sounds GREAT!!
Your voice in parts of the verses sounds a bit like the singer I've worked with, Justin Young--he sings in the third song ("I need your lovin'") in my first post of my music thread. But your voice timbre changes in other parts of the song, but it still sounds cool!!
but I can't stand Chinese food :P

MakahaMusic - Thank you very much! It's actually interesting to hear since I feel like the overall vocal tone of the song, although it takes on some different properties in different parts of the songs, are generally not how my singing voice typically sound.
