Seriously, I can't help it. I tried massaging, taking hot baths, drinking tea, warm milk....... listening to soothing music, all to no avail. Basically, I'm always so tense that my muscles around my neck/shoulder/arms area are constantly in pain, and I also suffer from TMJ and migraines.
I've been to chiropractors, but they don't help too much.. and I also don't have health insurance and basically in debt for pharmacy school so going to a specialist is sort of out of question.
Yesterday I stayed up all night worrying about the stupidest thing EVER, I'm even embarassed to tell it here....
I did suffer from chronic depression, and it's been less than a year since I've finally recovered.
Sometimes I find myself frowning with deep ankles around my eyebrows just sitting there looking or not even doing anything - because apparently I'm just tense. Ugh.

How do you guys relax? Any help? I don't think medical solutions are always the answer....

Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. sad.gif
Thank you for the Music..

Exercise. smile.gif

I started recently, and I've been a lot stressed lately. It helps a lot. So go for a run or do sit-ups or something.

Or meditation? I'll meditate once in a while and let my mind go blank. It's nice, not having to think about anything for a while. And when I start thinking again, I'm calmer, and won't get as stressed over it.

Yoga? Psychiatrist or counsellor?

Or even just talking to someone to get things off your chest might help, if that's what you need.

Meditation?
Have you ever tried walking in a nice park/neighborhood with soothing music and try to day dream?
I do that and I always feel at ease afterwards ^^

I would think that massage would help a LOT. Helps me a lot.

I agree with the person who mentioned that exercise helps. It does. Like massage, it gets your blood pumping, but on top of that, it makes you sweat, releasing toxins.

But I think one other way to relieve yourself (which isn't easy) is to try clearing yourself of worry and angst.

i usually am able to relax
after some intense excercise routines, and then taking a shower.
seriously, you dont have the energy to do anything else except relax.

You know that phrase, "i'm too poor to be cheap about things"

This is you. You may be in debt, but ignoring a constant problem and refusing to invest money in it isn't thrifty, it's just a bad strategy.

It sounds VERY MUCH like you need to go to a doctor. Constant muscle pain and migraines? This isn't tension, this is a medical problem. You've obviously tried relaxing techniques, and they don't work. That means they can't work since it's not what you (hope) it is.

Chiropractors are quacks, no wonder it didn't help.

Spending a little money now to find out what you have and get a treatment is a LOT cheaper in the long run then ignoring it, and being in constant pain all the time and possibly letting a medical problem get worse and worse.

However to make sure you don't spend more then you need, ask your friends and aquaintances for a recommendation for a GOOD doctor so you don't waste time being paraded to a bunch of specialists. And try to find out if you can find a free clinic.

Also, another cheap thing you can do is find a forum of doctors, or some kind of online medical help thing, and accurately describe your symptoms. Online diagnosis by a doctor is not ideal, but it's is better then you deciding what's wrong you.

From what I can tell this could be as bad as a spine problem (which is reason enough to go to a real doctor) or something as common, and easily treatable as an anxiety disorder.

I completely agree, your 'symptoms' for lack of a better word are much to serious to be asking advice from random online people, this need professional treatment. Wish that you will be better soon ^_~

i can't remember if it was for sexually transmitted diseases only or not, but if it's not it'll help. there's a law in california (or maybe the US) where all women can get free health care? but again i don't remember if it was only for std's. i don't even know the name of the law because one of my friends used it for free health care for... you guessed it, an std, and she kinda explained it to me that it was free... but the only line i remember is something like "free healthcare for women" and the only reason i remember is cuz i thought that was so john teshing unfair
