Ok, im sure that nearly anyone who has tried to lose weight has tried the unhealthy way of basically starving yourself. But i have a question for you guys. If you had to choice to lose weight really quickly through unhealthy means or lose weight extremely slowly through healthy means, which way would you guys go?

Because personally, before i lost weight by through unhealthy means, i tried bettering my diet and doing intense workouts.
but nothing worked and my body just kept getting bigger :/. But in the year of healthy dieting i lost like 5 pounds and in 6 months of unhealthy dieting i lost 70 haha.

if you cared about your health rather than looks it'd have to be the slow, healthy way

If you were 75 pounds overweight and weren't losing any of it through healthy diet and exercise, then you were probably doing something wrong. Just saying... you should really have figured that out at some point during that year laugh.gif

Those who try to do it the right way and fail are either not doing it right, or just not being consistent. I'll let you be the judge. No point in lying to yourself and telling yourself that you did it right and it just didn't work because that's a load of bs. 5lbs in 6months is just sad sorry.

Let me make it short and clear:

It's not about losing WEIGHT
It's about losing FAT

When you diet unhealthily you lose a lot of MUSCLE - the very thing that BURNS FAT. So you in the end you actually GAIN FAT

When you chose not to diet, but make a life-long decision to eat healthy and exercise you lose fat and GAIN MUSCLE, which in turn BURN EVEN MORE FAT EVEN WHEN YOU"RE SLACKING OFF.

It's stupid to starve yourself. It slows down your metabolism
and in the end, when you stop your diet, you'll gain back
the weight you've "lost". Honestly, to lose weight, you just need a
good diet, and exercise. Slow and steady is better for the long run.

I'd rather lose weight the right way - through proper diet and exercise. It may take longer, but it's worth it in the long run because your metabolism won't be a piece of crap + you'll be in better shape + your weight will be easier to maintain.

And yeah, you were obviously doing something wrong. =/ You should have been able to lose the 5 pounds in a month's time or so. sleep.gif

also if you lose lots of weight in a small amount time, you have a higher chance of getting stretch marks >_> dry.gif

hahaha i know its bad that i lost weight to unhealthy ways but i mean it worked right?
i lost 70 lbs in 6 months and no stretch marks and ive kept it off for about 3 years now.
sure, doing it the healthy way is "better" because its better for your body, but for me personally it wasn't working.
my body has a problem where if i work out and eat, i gain muscle like really quickly and i didnt want that. i didnt want to look bulky anymore after being big my whole life tongue.gif
so i wanted to slim down which i did it by not eating alot and running every day for those 6 months.
OH! and after like 1 year and a half my metabolism went right back to normal so its not all messed up lol.
also in that year i lost 5 lbs it was cuz i gained a lot of muscle weight and it made me look just as bulky when i wore clothes, which i hated :/

It's just better for your body to do it the healthy way. You can't really know for sure the long-term side effects "unhealthy" dieting has.

I've done it the bad way back when I was young and stupid, and trust me when I say it wreaked HAVOC on my body. I still have issues with my eating/digestion because of what I did to myself. Now I'm working out and just eating whatever I want, and I look fine. Do not starve yourself. It's called "unhealthy" for a reason.

i've gone through a lot of unhealthy dieting before and honestly it's really taught me that healthy dieting is the only way to truly lose the weight and not gain it back. smile.gif

unhealthy is definitly faster i did it like a summer ago, alot people said it actually makes u weaker, but when i lost 15 lbs in 2 months i had alot of energy i felt healthier at 95 then 110lb (i was 5'4 then)

but yah then i caught this kid disease and i could only eat icecream (cuz of these blisters in my throat) for 2 wks so i ended gaining like all of it back

i think when u diet thru unhealthy means the thing it really affects is that it really weakens immune system against diseases

Healthier. I lost a bit of weight just by swimming and having a job.
Plus I decided to fix my intake (Fast food, only a few times a month, not much sweets in between meals, eating vegetables more)
and I've been in a pretty alright shape. Lost a few pounds in just 2 months at a healthy rate.

I hate starving myself and I would never do it by unhealthy means.
I don't want to ruin my body and regret it in the future.

Not only do you get worse immunity.

You also GUARANTEE nutritional deficiencies which in time manifest as:

older looking skin => wrinkles in your 20s anyone?
flabby, non-elastic skin => how about some belly flab you can't get rid of, because your skin's elasticity got ruined for life. Or saggy boobs for that matter.
brittle bones => how about needing a hip replacement at 45?
low muscle mass => it takes HARD WORK to build muscle, and CONSTANT WORK to maintain it. But through starvation, you lose it easily. When you starve, you lose muscle all over... INCLUDING IN YOUR HEART.
How about getting winded from going one flight of stairs. How about death by heart attack at 50 mmmmmm?

The more you do it, the worse things you're condemning yourself to. Just because you THINK you get get away with it, doesn't mean you will. Nobody can magically starve themselves and not face consequences.

Your health is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing in your life. Really.

As someone who has always struggled with poor health, I don't understand why you're so willing to sacrifice good health for a shortcut to weight loss.

Please, treasure your life and health more.
