After a two-year hiatus, Super GIrls is back, with all the beauty, all the drama and all the gorgeous vocals.

Super Girls is run by Hunan TV and its subsidiary eeMedia. The top 18 artists signed with eeMedia as artists, while other hidden talents are already being artists in their own ways with other companies. Some of the lower leveled Super GIrls (not in the top 10) will also be chosen for training for a girl group.

The top 10 include 10 very different girls: sexy but fun Jiang Yingrong, soulful and calm Li Xiaoyun, sweet and innocent Huang Ying, pretty Liu Xijun, elegant Yu Kewei, sexy Tan Lina, powerful Pan Hongyue, classy Pan Chen, sheep-voiced Zeng Yike and fashionable Li Yuanxi.

no, she's not...but I just found this really cute photoshoot of her and it was too pretty to not put up.

I'm sad now that eeMedia chose Tao Le over her. Luo Zhenhuan is prettier and younger. She also has a slightly better voice, though neither measure up to the other girls. Plus, Chengdu bias. ;b

She would've been a good girlband member.

ah, Chengdu girls...

Did you know that some of the non-top-20 Chengdu girls, mainly five from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, had their own concert called CD power?

I always wondered, what did you think of Yi YiZi? She's also a Chengdu girl, but went to Guangdong to compete. She had such a creepy male following.

Isnt' that general Chengdu strategy, though? Go anywhere but Chengdu and you'll have a bigger chance of getting in the top 60 at least.

I like what they say here:
Chengdu is so heavenly that you should go there anytime...except for during Super Girls/Boys because it's the most competitive region with an overflow of talent.

They didn't mention Ma Xueyang, Tan Weiwei or Wang Zhengliang for Sichuan Conservatory of Music...and kept showing clips of Jiang Yingrong during the Conservatory section even though she went to Beijing Conservatory of Music.

I would really suggest you start watching from earlier performances, though. Overall, I thought the finale had the least impressive performances of the last nine shows.

I really hope Jiang Yinrong becomes a girlband leader rather than solo. She's perfect to lead other girls, and I think everyone loves her and can't find anything really annoying about her.

Her fanbase really isn't large enough to go solo either, but eh, eeMedia might be able to push it up to where it is.

The Super Girl behind Li Yifeng's songs

I love to hear about women composers because females get that “not as creative” label sometimes. Thus finding out that one of the Supergirls, 19 year-old Wen Xiaorui had composed for idol singer Li Yifeng before was a pleasant surprise.

Apparently she first wrote Good Night, Ferris Wheel for his first EP, and then three other songs for his new album, including Gou Yi Gou, Xiang Xie Yi Shou Ge, and Zui! Diao Che Wei. She also has written quite a few other ones that she’s releasing herself, including the most recent “Na Ge” or “That”, which I liked so much that I uploaded for you; download it here.

She’s with Li Yifeng’s company EQ records and so her entry into the competition is baffling in itself and it’s uncertain what exactly she hopes to gain from it. Her voice needs polishing; she got eliminated in the top 60 to 20 competition, but she’s really a lot better in singing than many that were in the top 20, and definitely better than certain people in the top 10. But of course, she’s from Chengdu, Sichuan and the Sichuan’s district was just too filled with heavy competition. Perhaps she’ll get signed on to the girlband that they want to make since she’s also got the looks + youth.


On the other hand perhaps joining the show was publicity for her songs and she’ll release an album with EQ soon; a few people have been asking where to download her songs after hearing her perform them on Supergirls. “Na Ge” or “That” was one of the ones she sung; She also is going to release another of her own compositions “Hu Die Kai Hua” or “Butterfly Flowers”, which she also sang on the show. Her compositions show diversity in which is really impressive, especially considering her age.

Of course she is just one of the many composers in Supergirls this year which makes me happy. From long ago eliminated girls like Dong Zhen and Wang Mengran, to the beautiful compositions of of the heart-wrenchingly eliminated Wang Zixin, this year’s batch have impressed me with making their own music. Not to mention that Supergirls Judge Ding Wei has composed for others as well, including my favorite Chen Kun song.

So just remember, behind every pretty boy, there might just be a talented girl.

So are there any news as to what paths the girls are going to take?

Personally, I think that Yu Kewei should go solo. Her vocals are definitely up for that. She is complete on her own entity.

I agree, though, that Jang Yirong would make a good band leader. It's just her vibe and her personality, I suppose.
