Is it possible to have a course in Animation and a course in Acting.....or would you have to get 2 degrees to do that? like could you have a major in animation and minor in acting or a major in acting and a minor in animation.

Just asking because UCLA has been my dream college and my brother's since we were little kids. I'm class of 1012....so it's not like a rush or anything. but i like to know my options....because I know it's hard to get into UCLA but it really is my dream college.

Don't laugh either. I know.....some people are probably gonna think it's a stupid idea. like trying acting because everyone I told has told me that it's stupid and that it's not all glamorous and everything and I know. but I think it'll be fun even if I don't become an actress....it's still something that i liked since I was a kid and stuff.

Well Los Angeles is a good place to be for acting (if that is your wish to be). UCLA is an overall great school including its art department.

Well you could take animation classes regardless of your major, however, a counselor might disagree b/c if you don't major/minor in it, then the class would be basically useless.

Well since you are class of 1012 (of course there is not rush, 1000 years is no time); just kidding, 2012 is a long time from now, a good 2.5 years. I would honestly say that you should REALLY consider what you want to do with your life. I know you're still young, but if you want to make it into the UCLA arts college, then you must do as much as you can to gain experience in that field. Take a heavy dose of dance, music, vocal, and theatre arts.

Note: if you are pursuing "movie/tv" acting, then I would not recommend majoring in it much less even going to college much less even being a high school student. If you are pursuing theatre arts (like broadway/stage), then I wish you good luck.

Animation is a field very different from acting since it requires strong computer skills. I do not know of any animation progrqms at UCLA, but if they do have a major in it, then I would suggest using that as your major and acting on the side.

UCLA is a GREAT college! I love it to death! UCLA may be difficult to get into, but it just depends on ur major and what you do in HS. are u near or far from UCLA? if you're near, i highly recommend you to visit UCLA and ask the departments ur question.

I think you can, but the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television is considered separate from the regular undergrad, so I think the admissions requirements are different. You should really talk to a counselor, though.

UCLA has media art, which is not exactly animation, but it's the closest (I think). UCLA has a MFA in Animation though aka the grad school. The media art is in the school of Arts & Architecture while the acting is in the School of Theater, Film, and Television. Neither acting nor media art offer minors so to do both, you'll need to double major and fulfill the pre-reqs of each degree before you're admitted into the respective schools. It's not impossible, but manageable.
