I finally decided to get a car here in Korea. Yes i could only afford the Boxster, but surprisingly the BMW Z4 was more expensive! tongue.gif I know yellow seems flashy but most cars in Korea are either black, white, or silver; sick of it.

I'll post pictures when i get it, will be going to the dealers this weekend!

boxsters are really cool smile.gif look like toy cars esp in bright colors.

and yeah, you're right one has to bring some color onto the streets of Seoul (?) because there're only black or white/silver autos... I'm asking myself WHY is it like that?

but if you were to buy a carrera 911 then i guess black would be the best smile.gif

congrats anyway! and... if you need someone to share your joy with...let me know smile.gif ha-ha!

yeah, sorrow, too.. smile.gif

Oo. I'm jealous. I'd drive any porsche except for the panamera.
I'm not feeling the wheels, but have fun with it when you get it ;D

Yeah i'll probably get different rims for it. 911's are insanely expensive in Korea, but i'll be just as happy with mine.

i haven't seen any porsche's here yet... maybe because, small cars with really uncomfortable back seats and small trunks (BUT YOU WILL HAVE TWO TRUNKS as far as I know) are not useful here (?)

- compare with the cars that the Americans drive- the bigger- the better-

because the Korean culture is a kinda family culture (you have to drive moms, dads, kids, brothers, uncles, friends' moms, dads, kids...) and if you have a porsche smile.gif it means you can only take one person with you...

and i'm kinda crazy about old timers smile.gif when the time comes, i'll own one...

I just realized the significance of this. I looked at the US website, and $73K could almost get you a 911 Carerra...wtf is with that?! Talk about rip off from Porsche Korea!

I've seen several Porsches here, my friend has a white Carerra S, i've seen a black and yellow Carerra buzzing around the area. I've seen plenty of hot cars, a red Ferrari, a few Bentley Continental GT, a couple Aston's, an R8..I'm single, my family is all in the states, so i don't have those problems.

i've seen a red ferrari, and a bentley too! i live near Korea University that's probably why i dont see many of those fancy cars. but we've got here cute red and grey VWbeetles, audis TT , even a SMART and my favorite mercedes csl (i believe) in grey.

are here any Hummers?

i love cars. i wish i could attend the IAA this week... but I can't miss classes! smile.gif

wow nice! yeah, be sure to post pics when you get it. I was planning on getting a used one awhile back but decided to hold off.

I saw quite a few luxury/sports cars (Ferraris, Lambos) while I was in Korea on vacation especially in the Apgujung area.

Buy used in Korea or import, not worth $70k + for a boxster; no one will turn heads.

Congrats, please post pics when you get one.

I am actually in the market right now for a 977 C2S or a pre owned Aston DB9 lol, so I know how the excitement must be killing you.

Why not splurge a lil more and go for the cayman? Theres not much point in getting a boxster if youre gna slap a hardtop on it... the top looks sort of incongruous whereas the cayman looks sleek.

Thought about it, but i want a convertible - i just hate the look of soft tops. While the Cayman looks sleeker from the back, from the front and partial it looks negligible...in the long hot Korean summers gotta have that convertible!

See for yourself.

A Porsche is a Porsche regardless of the model, of course it will turn heads - do you live in Korea? Most Koreans don't even have an imported car, mostly all domestic brands. Even while partying or clubbing at hte top clubs in Gangnam you might see a handful of Porsches at most. Among import buyers, most are VW, BMW, or Mercedes. I found this tidbit:

QUOTE
When looking at the individual models in the Porsche Subgroup, the 911 experienced a sales decline of 18.2 percent, down to 20,254 units. Sales of the Cayenne dropped 25.1 percent, down to 24,689 vehicles sold. Sales of the Boxster model, including the Cayman, plummeted 46.7 percent, down to 8,692 units.
