I went shopping at my chinese grocery market and I see a small section that stocks "slimming teas". There are different brands but they all basically help you lose weight by affecting your bowel movements i think. I've heard that asian diet/slimming teas are dangerous but i've also heard that it wasn't dangerous from others exprience....my question is, do they work and have any of you tried it before?? Obviously its better to eat less and workout but I was just curious about these products. Any comments would be appreciated =)

my teacher said it works, but they company never tells you that it hurts your kidney in the long run. Of course they wont say that "HEY IT WORKS, but theres a danger to it in the future". So yeah, works but will bring up health issues concerning organs.

Those are called laxatives. They make you go to the bathroom like crazy and it makes you dehydrated. I took them for over a year when I was in high school. I stopped because my body started depending on them to go to the bathroom regularly.
I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairy tale, I'm not the one you sweep off her feet, lead her up the stairwell, this ain't Hollywood, this is a small town, I was a dreamer before you went and let me down.

yeah they are laxatives but i think it's good to take it once in a while - to give your body a cleanse.

As previous posters stated, those would be the laxatives that flush your body.
For long term healthier options, I can suggest a couple of different teas that'll help towards a cleaner diet:
1) Pu-Ehr: The longer it's been fermenting the better. Plenty of studies have shown it to reduce cholesterol levels, so take it along with heavier meals or throughout the day
2) Rooibos: Lots of antioxidant and minerals and no caffeine. Great for digestion, and I believe they even have Rooibos in coffee shops now.
3) Mate: Has mateine, which is a central nervous system targeted stimulant, so you won't get the crash that results with the consumption of coffee/caffeine. They used this tea during famines to last them through the weeks since it's so rich in vitamins, minerals. I am NOT telling you drink this and not eat. I'm just giving you some background information.
All of these teas have 0 calories, so it's healthier than water and you won't get fat from drinking it. And they boost your immune system as well, so combined with a good eating plan and exercise, you won't be needing the harsh laxatives you mentioned.
