Against Fat People

I used to be pretty overweight and either u grow up knowing you'll hate it or learn to just deal with it and embrace it. I lost a lot of weight because of circumstances in my life and going to college meeting lots of different people, i learned that it's about aesthetics. we all grow up with the culture we're exposed to and either u change your culture environment or you become a "slave" to it AND not only that, you also grow up either disliking where your life is, or you love it. Yes there are crazy people who like being slaves to the popular culture.
All species deal with a certain field in visual aesthetics that helps them choose their mate.
Fat people are most of the time indeed shunned because their aesthetic beauty has been transformed not for the better. We have no real reason to be against fat people except for that fact that we psychologically think that way. You read literature right? They're always talking about the beauty of youth and how we love it because we aren't 12 year old kids anymore and puberty has just begun so we run amok, chasing after young girls and swooning over charming boys.
stretch marks and countless rolls of fat-- even the face could damage aesthetics of youth because it goes way back to ancient cultures where the beautiful is considered godly or blessed, and they become sacrifices or virgin priestesses.
Now i feel like i'm rambling but please do give me a response if you like where this convo is headed lol

I was chubby too. Now I'm not. This is why I hold it against other people.

That's pretty immature and rude. Why do you dislike fat people? If you say it's because they are unhealthy, then you might as well look disgustingly and insult people who are addicted to cigarettes, and people who use tanning beds should be your next priority.. The difference is, those people can control it. You should understand first hand how difficult it is to become thin. If you don't, I don't know how I can help you. :/

I don't like smoking or tanning either.
Don't get me wrong. By fat I mean 20lbs or more overweight. I don't care about an extra 5-10lbs. I actually like a little tummy and I adore love handles.
Then again, I don't recall asking for help in the matter.
I can dislike a person's being fat without disliking the person. Just because I hold that against them doesn't mean their other qualities won't "outweigh" their weight.
What I don't like is the B.O., the sweat, the heavy breathing whilst sitting still and paying the same amount for metro fare for them to take up half my space on the seat. You can't help that sort of thing if you're 6'4" and 200lbs. You can certainly help being 5'6" and 200lbs unless you have a genuine, underlying medical condition causing the weight gain which is usually NOT the case.
Opinions are not rude. Actions are.

You're right, opinions are not rude! But your clear decision to "hold it against" those people is an action, therefore I can call it rude... How do you know it's NOT a medical disorder? And as detailed further in the back-posts of this thread, it doesn't have to be a medical disorder. Many times overweight people are emotional eaters, and other times they have suffered abuse. Even more often is the case of the overweight person who was raised to have poor eating habits by overweight families... And everyone has a different metabolism. I know lazy, overeating people who are still extremely thin, and I know overweight people who are active and eat healthy.
And, like I said before, it's not their responsibility to conform towards what you want. I'm not going to go around to everyone thinking "you should really dye your hair blonde. It's better and you're just lazy because you don't do it."...
Furthermore, overweight people being unhygienic or "smelly" in any way is a baseless myth that has absolutely nothing to back it up. I also know a lot of thin people who don't bathe as regularly as I'd like them to.

Over half of the US has emotional issues so severe that they can't control their weight? Over half the US has been abused to the point that they are rendered helpless in the fight against their own weight? Well then, let's just close up shop over here. Obviously we're all just abusing the hell out of each other and we're all going to force each other into a feeding frenzy only to end in a gluttonous fallout. The thought of it makes me so emotional I could eat.
Poor eating habits? Really? I never thought eating fatback and fried foods could make you... fat? Really, the connection is just absurd and completely beyond the realm of common sense; how are people supposed to figure that out?
If you know someone that is active, eats healthy, exercises and is still 20lbs or more overweight due to fat and not muscle build, I suggest you refer that friend to a doctor because they probably have a medical condition.
My bf could eat the whole cow and then some and maybe gain a whopping 3oz in body fat. Maybe. Good for him. If I even look at a slice of pizza I gain 2lbs. Asi es la vida. The moral of the story is don't eat the pizza or get my fat butt on a bike path if I do, lest I get... dun dun DUN! Fat.
I can come up with at least 20 different scenarios to explain why a person could grow up to be functionally illiterate. Doesn't mean I should condone their being illiterate. I can think of hundreds of crisis that could drive a man to the bottle, predisposition and genetics included. Doesn't mean I'm going to condone their alcoholism.
My mother is on anti-psychotics. The medication makes her retain a ridiculous amount of water weight and actually makes her gain weight. Her feet and ankles swell to the point that she can't move around so she gains even more weight. I am going to hold that weight against her? Absolutely not. She has a medical condition that causes the weight gain, not one that is caused by the weight gain. Glandular issues? Not your fault. Medications and conditions that render you physically incapable? Not your fault. Genetic predisposition? Wait... stop right there! Predisposition, not genetic condition. Meaning it can be avoided. Perhaps not prevented, but certainly avoided. Everyone but me and my brother is chubby on both sides of my family. I could say the reason is genetics except... he and I aren't chubby. It's a battle... but we're winning it.
People like to say "it's what's inside that counts." They're right. However, it is my personal belief that the amount of care and effort you put into your HEALTH, hygiene and physical well being is a direct reflection of certain internal characteristics that I personally consider important. There is not a single part of me that believes we should all be built like 12 year old boys. Nor is there a part that thinks it's acceptable to be clinically overweight if you can help it.

without any offense to your post, it may have gone off on a tangent now.. clearly there are psychological issues with being fat and what it can do to you for example, you resenting fat people is a way to cope with how you used to look like before you were thin, because no matter how long you've been fat, you were fat for a certain time and that's a partial percent of your life spent being obese.
that could be a reason why you are against fat people? i only hope that bit of info gave you a reasonable defense as to why you don't like their image and it's not in ur control sometimes. People can change tho so maybe you can see it in a different light
and as far as liking a person despite their obesity, you're totally right! you can have a lot of friends or a couple that are obese and absolutely love who they are. but if an obese person of the opposite sex (or same hehe not dis-cluding you) was attracted to you, that person would hafto be freaking.. wonderwoman/superman before you even give him a chance am i correct?
i think that's the simple point of view people are trying to draw out and believe me you, i'm sure more than half would agree to that.

LOL, I never said I was obese. No where near it. I said I was chubby. That chub filled out to a fine hour glass once I took up a sport. There is a HUGE difference between 5-10lbs and obese.
Maybe to rephrase it I should say not "I don't like fat people," but to say "I don't like it that people are fat."
I would not date an obese person. Chubby, ok. Not obese.

em sorry. lol my bad!!
maybe you don't like it that they're fat because u think that they're just that lazy when there are so many things they could do to try and fix it.. prevent it.. help it to say the least... and you taking up a sport is a for sure way to make an example of yourself who was chubby and then turned that gushy stuff into shablams?

Something like that.
Honestly, at the rate the US is going it's soon going to look like the movie Wall-E.
There should be a healthy balance between mind and body. Somehow, along the way here, people got the notion that it's ok to just run with one or the other. If you're smart it's ok to be a slob or if you're good looking it's ok to be dumb as rocks. This is reinforced by parents who, out of love, tell their dumb and fat children "It's ok, you're a beautiful and unique snowflake. People will love you for who you are. You're not fat, you've just big bones. Real women have curves. You just go at your own speed. Blah blah blah...," because it's easier than coping with reality and saying "OMG, I've raised a fat child, what have I done? How can I fix it? I can't believe I might have ruined them for life and lessened their chances for a happy and healthy life... I'll just convince everyone that they're ok. Much easier to fix everyone else than admit and fix what I've done; so long as I yell loud enough and long enough and tell everyone else they're being shallow. No one likes being shallow. Except for thin, good looking people but I'm sure they all stick their fingers down their throats..."
I'm not even that thin. I'm much bigger than a lot of girls I know. However, I'm healthy, I'm in the right zone for my height and build, my BMI is right where it should be, I eat (fairly) healthy and I exercise. That's all it takes. Everyone should promote and encourage an all around healthy lifestyle, physically and emotionally.

i'd say being very positive in encouraging them is a far more effective way because people in that state seem to believe that they'll never come out of the hole and doing it by themselves is something that they're definitely capable of, but in reality it's not true. Our minds can get the best of us and put us down harder than anyone else can.
but i believe that you're in a really good place and that ur a strong person

Guys get less of our self-image from how we look.
Plus, fat dudes still get mad love in the media.
