^ ohh thanks for the advices,
bOy &
JUJU bar haha
do ppl generally have problems w/ their roommates or are they usually paired up fairly well?
well, for me, i filled out a short questionnaire about when i go to sleep, when i wake up, what my studying habits are... i was really lucky and i found an awesome roommate i still live with (3rd year). but it really depends you know. from what i observe, most of the rooming situations on my floor were fine. i mean, i'd hear from time to time how someone was annoyed that their roommate didn't clean up or something trivial like that, but that comes from more of their lifestyles than their personalities...
i have several more questions haha.
so i was researching on the school's website and i noticed how it said that you register for classes through tele-bears? and apparently you register online -- right?
so i don't get it; i thought you registered during orientation?
this registering for fall 09 classes start on april 13...
should i be concerned or is this for like current students?
so there are two phases of signing up for classes. yes, you sign up for classes on telebears for both phases.
first phase, there's a limit of 10.5 units, including wait-listed classes. second phase, you can fill them up to about 21 units (depends on your college)
first years start their first phase during the orientation.
for current students, first phase starts on the 13th of april. but everyone has their appointed day. i think there are priority for seniors, and then juniors, etc.
how can i make sure i can get into the classes i want to get into?
are there any measures i can take to put myself at an advantage?
would submitting the SIR in asap help?
for classes that are required for your major, in most cases, you will get in. you just won't be 100% sure when you'll take it. like the most general classes like chem1a bio1a physics 8a, you probably can get in if you sign up for them during phase I. if you decide later on that you want to take it and try signing up during phase II, then you might have a bit of a problem. but you can always take it the next semester (as most lower level courses are offered both semesters).
for upper level courses, they're usually a lot smaller (100 or less). but then again there would be a lot less people wanting to take it.
the best way i think is to plan your four years and leave room for substitutions or replacements. of course, this wouldn't be set in stone, but i feel it's important to have an idea of what classes you need to take instead of just taking classes that interest you at the moment.
i don't think submitting the SIR earlier will help. i think signing up for the earliest orientation would be to your best advantage. but i don't remember if you were given a choice...
& if i want to take an intermediate class (or +) for idk... korean? do i need to take a placement test? or can i simply register for it? Would my Korean SAT score play some role in my placement?
i think you take a test. you should contact the department.
& i noticed how some classes like linear algebra (math.. 54? 52?) had HONORS and just regular; what's the difference? and to get into the Honors class, are there prereqs?
i don't know about this one. but based on honor science courses, i think that the prereqs are same. just the work you're expected to do is different and you sign up knowing that you're going to be responsible for the extra course load. but i'm not 100% sure.
Thanks in advance!
