It might do that. Maybe after awhile it will start to look thinner. Dunno. When i started long distance running my thighs got huge but apparently if you keep it up your legs will start looking thinner. Don't take my word for it, i am no health expert.
However i personally noticed my legs got a bit toner over all after my first year at college. My calves are more defined now even when i am not on tippy toes. I guess most girls don't like that but i do. I want my legs to be toned then the fat skinny kind. XD

Well, observe what you're doing daily, I really doubt just walking around would be the main cause of the growth in your thighs unless you're literally doing marathons around the school every day. If anything your thighs wouldn't get "fatter" they're just gaining muscle, besides girls with thick thighs and butts can be pretty attractive!

I highly doubt that's the reason why your legs got bigger.
Usually, walking doesn't make your legs bigger.
If you look at long distance runners, they have thinner legs and if you look at sprinters, they have much thicker legs.
So I highly doubt walking will make your legs bigger.
If this is your first year in college, your eating habits and how much calories you consume might be a good factor.
