Just curious to know what your views are on people who spit..

I find it so degrading and disgusting.. obviously if you're exercising outdoors and you're thirsty, go for it.

But when someone spits on another person is really shameful and when people keep spitting to try and act 'cool' just fails imo..

Er...depends on situation actually. I find it gross when someone spitting and at the same time they make a big noise to let go all of the spit in their mouth...ewwwwwww...

My guy friends do this alot when it's summer. I don't really have anything against it, I mean it's not like I watch their spit fall to the ground or what not.

It bothers me to see people spit on the streets. It's even worse when they make the hacking sound... ugh. Even if it's not at me, it still grosses me out.

I think I understand why guys do it in the summer. Your mouth gets foamy sometimes when you're really parched, and I guess that might have something to do with it.

Anyway, it's a really annoying habit. They should think of other people! I'd rather not look down and find out I've stepped in someone else's saliva! Yuck.

I understand if you have gunk in your mouth, but some people just do it ALL the time and it's disgusting. There was this one time I was walking and some guy spit on me by accident. I was so pissed.

I used to try to get my friends to stop spitting because it's disgusting imo.
One time I was walking downtown and this guy nearby spat every 7 - 10 seconds on the sidewalk. Ugh.

I love (read: hate) it when teenage boys or guys in their early twenties see me walking up next to them and look right at me like they're saying "Hey, look what I'm gonna do!", spit on the sidewalk, then look back at me like I'm supposed to be impressed and clap or something and exclaim over their machismo. Hooray, you've just reminded me why no one should ever walk barefoot on a city sidewalk!

Occasionally it's understandable, but the vast majority of the time it is young men I see spitting in public for no discernible reason, and they usually seem to do it very deliberately when they're with friends or see young women like they're putting on some sort of show or trying to prove something. It's not cool, it's not sexy, and it's not hygienic.

there's one very icky story i'd like to share. as a filipino, i'd get to ride alot of jeepneys around the city streets. jeepney drivers would almost always spit on the streets, as their jeepneys have no windows so it's easy for them to do the deed. one time there was this stupid jeepney driver. he spat while he was resting his left hand while holding a cup of water (or some drinking liquid) positioned like half a feet under his mouth. guess what happened -- his spit went into his cup. if he purposely did this, he's gross. if not, he's stupid AND gross.

oh I would believe it. I have the same habit as you do,bro......Spitting is spitting thats just way of nature ....you can't resist the spit you know.

I drink many water bottles' worth of water daily, and my water bottle holds about 900 mL, but I generally don't have to spit because of this. I can still manage to swallow my saliva unless I've just been running hard for a long time. Just how much drinking are we talking about here?
