I disagree, our lives are what we make it to be.
For example, we can all just kill ourselves right now, and then it's done. But then I suddenly decided not to do it.
Of course, some people like to say very interesting things like "your CHOICE is an illusion. Destiny has already determined that you will suddenly change your mind and NOT kill yourself" in an attempt to argue that destiny exists. Well, let's consider the following:
if I chose to kill myself, then destiny has determined I will kill myself.
If I decided to change my mind, then destiny has determined I will change my mind
If I decided to throw the knife out the window, then destiny has determined I will throw the knife out the window.
In all 3 cases, destiny has always remained constant, whereas my choice varies. In any arbitrary case, my choice changes, and destiny remains constant.
Well isn't that the same as saying it's my choice in the end? Destiny really doesn't matter then. It's like 1 + 0 = 1; you can omit that 0! It's the outcome that matters in the end.
In conclusion, destiny may exist, but its existence is meaningless. Everything is still our choice.

It's a perfectly valid argument and one that probably can't be countered due to how general it is.
But consider your shadow: when you jump, it also jumps. When you fall, it also falls. When you run away, it also runs away. But no matter how much your shadow follows you, it simply CANNOT do more things than you have decided to do.
Yes, one's destiny may have already been written, but you won't know it until things happen anyways.
And when they do happen, they've already happened, nothing you can do about it. Except maybe reflect lol

I mean, you are given life to choose how you want to follow it. How you want it to turn out like, there's no such thing as destiny. There's not someone writing a list of how we will live. Everything that happens isn't by destiny.
I've heard many who met their "true" love say: "It was destiny!"
I don't think so. Believe what you want to believe but I don't believe in destiny.
and the world will smile back. :D

there are choice but the end is the same. Time may be different but the end is still the same. The choice is yours to rather call it destiny or not.

I sometimes think that the word destiny is there to bring up your ego or something. >_>

I'd hate to take a defeatist approach to life (although it's great because you're never disappointed), so I don't believe in fate.
I'm leaning towards utilitarianism....
