I know the description doesn't really explain but, yesterday morning I woke up and I got off my bed, while I was at the door, my left leg suddenly goes numb(?) and I feel as if I can't feel it anymore. I fell to the ground and tried to get up again, but I fell back down again. I stayed on the floor for about 3-4 minutes before the feeling in my leg came back. The thing is, once I got up, there was absolutely nothing wrong with my leg. It felt perfectly fine and normal.

I thought it was me just dreaming when it happened. But then this morning, I did the same thing as I do every morning and the SAME thing happened to me again. This time, with my right leg. Once again, I tried getting back up but I just couldn't. I stayed on the floor for 3-4 minutes again till the feeling in my leg came back.

I had told my dad what happened and he told me it might be the way I sleep. I'm pretty sure when I sleep, I sleep straight. I rarely sleep bended, at least, that's what I think so. And when I wake up, I sit in my bed and stretch a bit before I actually get off the bed.
A few of my friends have been thinking it's because I had ran too much the days before. [3 laps + 2 miles] isn't THAT much, right? And after I ran my legs felt fine, they didn't feel wobbly or as if I would fall down at the spot. Maybe the feeling came a few days late?

The way you sleep is probably cutting off the circulation to your leg. Happened to my arm many times.

Um I don't know, but want to know what's is freaky?
I have dreams a few times where I'll be walking and all of a sudden,
both my legs will become very weak, and unable to support by body weight so I would have to sit down.
On second thought, maybe your dad is right. Or check with a doctor to be sure. smile.gif

I've been told that when your legs give out for no reason at all it could be a sign of osteoarthritis.
Or else, yeah - it's probably the way you sleep and bad circulation..
I'm not a professional or anything but you should definitely go to your doctor and get it checked out.

do you have any other symptoms like dizzyness, nausea, etc.? I'd take your blood sugar and blood pressure to check for any abnormalities.
it's really hard to tell what's wrong with just one thing. If you really think there's a problem, I would go see a doctor.

it might have something to do with something you do (or don't do) before you go to sleep? but we can't really say for sure on this forum without a proper consultation...

i have to agree with your dad. if your sleeping in such a way to block the blood to your legs then numb legs is pretty much explainable.

dunno, no matter how i think about it, it's the way your sleeping. i mean the fact that your leg comes back to normal after 3-4 minutes of time.

That happened to me once in the middle of the night. I needed to use the restroom and when I got up, my leg was completely numb. I tried to walk around, but ended up falling. XD It came back really quickly though. It was the way I slept, because it hasn't happened to me anymore. So, I believe your dad is right about it being the way you slept. If it happens more, then you could go to the Doc. if you are really nervous about it.

Like the people before me said, you could be cutting off the circulation to your legs causing it to go numb. It's happened to me before.

This happen to me too :/
I got out of bed and once my feet hit the floor, both of my legs gave out. I got up again and again I hit the floor. I had to call my dad to come and help me. After a couple of minutes my legs felt fine. My dad said it was because I cut off circulation to my legs while I was sleeping. So maybe that could be it? You can go and get a check up if your still worried though.

Something like that happened to me "once", only once. It was during my junior year when I was in track, I was running with my friend of course we were lightly jogging then suddenly BOOM, out of no where, not that I felt my legs were numb cause I didn't feel any numbness. I just fell. It was werid cause when I fell, it was like someone tripped me, well only the feeling, but I saw nothing that tripped me, and I'm not that clumsy of a person either. But yeah you should go see a doc.

I had this weid thing happen where one of my vein wasnt working probably or something .o.o
like when i stretch my leg for too long. Last time I was watching tivi all of a sudden i felt like someone just pinch me with a needle it hurts like hell. I was literally crying <.<

my legs give out a lot, they just randomly stop while I'm walking... it has something to do with nerve compression I think

It should be fine. You probably slept on it. That's what happened to me.

I woke up and freaked out to my alarm. I quickly jumped out of bed and suddenly fell down, knocking over my heat dish. I was like, "wtf" and tried to get up only to fall down again. I sat for a few minutes and slapped my leg until it wasn't numb anymore. I was fine and it never happened again.

Could be any number of things. If you said your leg felt fine--as in you still felt it--then it's probably not a cut off of circulation. My best diagnostic guess: how much do you sleep a day? Narcolepsy symptoms might fit the diagnosis because narcoleptics may suddenly lose muscle tension in their limbs. Other problems may be similarly neurological.

It could be the lack of circulation or it might have to do with lower back issues that will hinder motor-skills from the hip all the way down to your feet.

If it is becoming a routine thing, I would go see a doctor.

Do you get migraines? My doctor says that is happens to people with migraines (like me T.T)

I think it's uncommon, but not rare. My doc also says it happens in the early morning (ie. when you wake up).

See a doctor =)
