Do you like rude people? Honestly, I dislike rude people and I would do my best to ignore any rude people since their rudeness is not important to me. I find rude people to be very disturbing. Please do help because I need ideas on how to write an essay on rudeness. Thanks in advance to all the soompiers who respond. Thank you.
I'll always be...

People are becoming ruder because of less punishment/restrictions (i.e. less physical punishment and as you know spanking your kids is illegal in some countries or frowned upon) obviously everyone is rude to some extent, no-one can be polite all their life. Some days when you have a bad day, hell is unleashed. For me anyways tongue.gif

I agree. It's really annoying sometimes. I try to be as polite as possible, and it makes me angry when I see people being rude to others. I have that maternal instinct to stick up for that person (this can actually be a bad thing laugh.gif ) I have a zero tolerance level for rude people.

Have you ever seen normal Taiwanese or Korean people walking around on streets? Most of them have huge noses, small chinky eyes and flat noses and look nothing like those celebrities you see in dramas. And sorry, but most Korean celebrities you see on TV underwent a lot of plastic surgeries in order to look like what you see on TV. I think this should be well-known by all K-Pop-fans.

Definitely, I think people are too rude/critical these days.
And not just on the net, in real life especially - don't even get me started about people being rude on public transport. sleep.gif
Sometimes being nice just gets you nowhere, unfortunately sad.gif

yes i think so because of the freedom of speech and blah blah blah, as well as over the internet, some comments on YT are just plain bad. Just because people can't see each other show some respect..

I like and dislike rude people at the same time smile.gif

Sometimes your perception of what is rude may actually be normal for certain individuals (e.g. culture, codes etc.) I believe people are becoming more impolite because of technology. Technology unwittingly tends to place a lesser value on human connection/relationships. People these days become so stimulated through technology, that some forget how to behave like a normal person - technology is an excuse for bad manners rolleyes.gif

LIKES
In person - I like rude people for their honesty. Much preferred over liars and manipulators smile.gif I try to understand the reason/s behind their behaviour and then choose how best to deal with them. Factors for rude behaviour include having a bad day, stress, conceitedness, insecurities, immaturity, stereotypes, misunderstandings or just plain bad manners laugh.gif Dealing with rude people have helped to improve my confidence and communication when dealing with all sorts - good or bad smile.gif

Internet/Phone - Most who are rude through these mediums tend to feel lonely, seek attention, need to escape from the stresses of reality or simply frustrated at being misunderstood smile.gif The advantage here is that most rude people laugh.gif will take the time to read their replies, dwell on it and have a change of heart. This way educates and perhaps is more effective than a face-to-face situation where people tend to hide behind things like pride and peer pressure smile.gif

DISLIKES
In person - My living, work and studies alternate between less populated and well populated areas (suburb and city). I find people in the city have a tendency to be much more rude than others. I can only put it down to competition and taking people for granted. Sometimes in work, social and family atmospheres people use rude behaviour as a tool to create an impact, interfere with your focus or because they're afraid of losing smile.gif

Internet/Phone - I especially dislike rude people who communicate through these mediums because they have the potential to harm the vulnerable, young, impressionable and misinformed.

Good luck with your essay, greenana smile.gif

I dislike rude people also but it really depends on the situation.
If it`s understable, I don`t mind ^^;;

the reason why people are so rude on the internet is because they can get away with it. no one is going to punish them or make them wash their mouth afterwards for swearing on the internet. if you could get away with doing something bad you obviously wouldn't care who it affects. so the kids read it & think that those words are prettt normal, which i think is why little kids are swearing so much now. but i agree with your whole comment. sometimes i like their bluntness too.

Next time, please keep in mind that you shouldn't start survey-like topics in General Discussion to help you with your homework ^^ The answer to your question seems to vary according to cultural norms and generation so it's hard to say what is "universally rude" to everyone..anyways, good luck with your essay =)

Yeah people ARE becoming ruder these days.
In my opinion, I think it's never right to be rude, unless the person you're being rude to deserves that.

has got to do with the way our generation is being brought up under the influence of the media. Where crude humour is praised upon and seen as something to mirror in our lives. Take comedy radio shows, etc. So yes.

no, people arent becoming ruder now .

everyone's just turning more sensitive, that's all .

if you think the people now are rude, you have no idea how the older generations talk back in their days . mom calling their daughters 'cheap stuff' and 'smelly...ughyougetmypoint' imo were way meaner than things that come out of our mouths these days .

No I don't like them obviously & I hate when they try to pass it off as cold honesty.
There's a difference between being honest & just being plain disrespectful.

Btw, watched a documentary on this & yes, people are ruder but not because we were all super respectful at one point. People were always rude.

i do think so! i was talking about this with my mom just a few days ago.
it's been annoying me a lot. i don't know why some people today think that being rude will solve things and make them look and sound cool, because they don't, they just make things worse and people will see them as some stuck ups who think they are 'know it alls' ... nobody makes an effort to talk with these types of people.
like this chan man guy over there ... i don't know if he was joking or not ... but i've seen this type of action countless times, people make such a big fuss because of a misplaced vowel! O__O'
they need to realize that whatever they do will turn back on them...
if they are rude to somebody today, tomorrow somebody will be 2 times worse to them when they most need a helping hand.

got that out of my chest XDD

Actually, I think you'd have to be blind not to notice (over here, at least)...

Almost every store I walk into now, no one will even greet you. When you walk up to the checkout stand, no greeting. I've even been ignored at a shoe store once... I stood there for 5 MINUTES while the damn b**ch was talking to someone, then she finally turned and had the most horrible attitude... What ever happened to "Customer Service"? I think it disappeared after I quit my job.... I personally would NEVER act that way to a customer, even when the customer is rude to me (which does happen) but I guess people these days just don't seem to care. It really bothers me. I just think, "You people should feel lucky to even have your jobs right now!", but never even get a smile sometimes.

Everyone's rude once in a while but seriously some people are taking it to the next level as in rude-in-your-face level.
Makes me want to bash them from wall to wall but I have no strength.
Bleh.

I always go out of my way to help people simply, like by opening doors or picking up something a lady dropped, I hardly receive the came kindness back. I hate it when most of the time people just slip inside of a door and let it close on you.
