Hello, guys!

The thing is that it's got cold outside and I cannot do my jogging anymore dry.gif (I could have felt the wind blowing through me when I tried today, lol)
So, I've been thinking what I could do instead of jogging and it looks like a good idea to buy a home exercise machine, like elliptical, since I've read about it a little and it looks like "the best choice". However, I have never used it and when I think about it, exercising with it looks more like walking to me than running (or so I imagine). And walking is not the king of exercise which helps to burn fat.

So, the question is: is exercising with elliptical intense enough to replace jogging?
Also, I would be grateful if you shared your experiences about using one at home.

Thanks for your time and please forgive my stupidity smile.gif

I personally find the elliptical is much more difficult/intense than a treadmill, at the same pace.

With elliptical you can increase the resistance that you can't move anymore LOL xD... but anyways you can go in reverse on one work out the other muscles when you go in reverse ^___^ with the resistance... I sometime put it to high that I get tired after awhile lol (with a treadmill i can go much long with incline too)

I don't use one at home... I go to the gym, but I don't just only use the elliptical , I'll will mix up with running.

Perhaps if you get the elliptical you can also jump rope (and i mean the fast jogging kind not the slow version LOL)

I use it in the gym and i would say that i can run a very long time on it more than running outside. You could burn about 700-1000 if you're "running on it", it looks like your just walking but damn i swet so bad on it lol. personnaly i think its harder then the treadmill but you can last longer so i really love it. ^^ cause its softer on the knee impact you know when you land on the floor. so yea hope it helps.

don't skimp on a quality elliptical. the cheap ones squeaks like mad and breaks down in no time.

it doesn't make me lose weight, just maintain my current body shape.
Yah I'm lazy, i only do resistance level 2 and 3 for 30 mins, 3 days a week
but it does make my butt look bigger and more shapely. Luvin' it! XD

The handlebars, it helps you working out your arms and chest muscle.
My breast circumference got bigger by 1 inch because of it. Ugh. They are already big enough. =__=

Does the elliptical really increase your chest size? xD Maybe it's just for some people (like Bunny said hers did), but I don't want that to happen to me either! ohmy.gif

If you use the arm things on the elliptical then you work out your arms and chest (and by working out your chest muscle will become firmer(of course under the breasts)

That's why they have tips if you want a perkier looking breast, you would want to work our your chest muscles ^__^

PS it won't increase breast size (like an A to cool.gif but muscles underneath will give them a lift ^___~

^ Ohh, I see! I want toned arms, but definitely not the firmer chest part :X I guess if I'm only doing it once a week (I usually run on the other days or do the bike) I'll be fine. smile.gif

Ellipticals burn more fat than treadmills. And for toning, since you can't target fat loss, you'll lose fat everywhere. But like I said, same amount of time and effort on both machines, you'll lose more from ellipticals.

Well you can use the ellipticals without holding onto the handle bars xD

Personally I like ellipticals better than treadmills xD On treadmills I don't like hearing my footsteps.. it just makes me want to just walk and get lazy. and i get bored on the treadmill for some reason... it's not like running/jogging outside where you can feel the breeze and look at nature... (screw TVs it only makes me pissed off LOL)

I love the Elliptical! It definitely works you out more than the treadmill.

I get tired faster on it, but I think I work out better after using it.

I go to the gym and do both!

actually it does help lose weight if your eliptical machine has a fat burning system you can see that the heart rate is actually lower than say cardiovascular work out. So you dont have to be running fast to burn fat.

ellipticals actually can burn way more calories than a treadmill or running if u set the resistance higher. It always builds muscle which makes you burn more calories!! I typically do twenty minutes on a resistance level of 7. burns like 200 cal.
