I hope this doesn't have to do with the "age differences" topic..if it does, please move or delete..hopefully not delete.. laugh.gif

anyways,

so i have a friend, his girlfriend (now ex) lied that she was 2 years older (she was originally 16years old) just to date him, (who was 21 years old) when they first met.

I forgot how long it took him to find out...but it wasn't right after they became official BF/GF...

I also have another friend who lied to her boyfriend (also now ex) of 3 years that she was one year older and he never found out she lied...

Is this wrong??
Does anybody do this, whether to make yourself younger or older?? If so, why?

I view it as beginning of a untrustworthy relationship. If you'll lie about your age, what else are you going to lie about...I know that sometimes girls have "age commitment problems," but if you like a guy he should at least know!

I hate lies.
Eventually you'll have to tell them the truth, that would destroy a relationship. Why lie? The truth is always the best way to go.

I don't see a reason to hide your real age from your S/O. Come on, if you can't be honest with the age, how to expect a sincere relationship from your S/O?

Maybe it's just me, i can't undrstand why should someone hide his/her age.

Someone once told me that a relationship founded on dishonesty is bound to fail.

I believe this.

What the hell, how could they never find out?
That's really shifty and like the others have said - it's pretty much lying.
It sounds pretty desperate to me if a girl has to LIE about her age just to get a guy. mellow.gif

What everyone else said. But how did they manage to keep it hidden for so long? Don't they celebrate their birthdays? I think at least one person would be like happy birthday, you are [real age] at a party or even on facebook...you know?
Guess that is why they are ex's now.

In that situation, of course. I mean, what the hell? If they went far enough and her parents found out, the guy could be charged with statutory rape and be given the "convicted sex offender" label for the rest of his life.

Girls who do things like that are pinkberryes. No wonder they broke up.

hahah thanks for all the comments everybody.
both broke up for different reasons.

the reason he never found out it's because he never asked and just assumed she's right. That's trust for me. When they celebrated her birthday, she somehow used her fake one. I don't even get it and that's my best friend. (sleep.gif). I remembered one time I had to lie about it for her too.......i told her it was stupid. it was ridiculous.

I don't get what is the big deal with ages. If someone isn't willing to be with you because of your age, then they aren't worth it.

I don't see the point of lying about your age. Age is just a number.
Relationship revolves around trust and honesty, whats the point of dating someone when you lie ?

Lying about your age is just asking for trouble.

Is it wrong? If so, why?

Try asking yourself that.

It's something they're bound to find out about.
Sure, maybe they can hide it for a while, but it'll just build up
to that day when someone goes.

When I was about 15, I talked to this guy, he was 18. I told him I was 17. Things definitely didn't work out. All he wanted to do was go out to the club and such.

I think I lied because I wanted to him to like. oh gosh thinking back to it makes me laugh.

Well, what's gonna happen if she invites her bf over to her parents or show her driver's license? It's gonna leak out sooner or later, so there's no point in lying about something as prominent as your age.

Gee golly gosh no! Lying about your age is a perfectly normal thing to do. When you've already slept with all the local boys your age, where are you to go? Husbands, Tradesmen, Gang Members and Older Guys, that's where!

Now I'll tell you what is wrong? Lying about your sex! Picture this, you meet a nice girl, a little hair on her upper lip (but sometimes, you just don't have the time, right ladies?) and an odd buldge around the neck but you don't think anything of it. So you ask her out to a movie and everything's going fine, until the erotic part of the movie begins and all of a sudden you've got more than a handful of popcorn!

I hate when that happens. Am I right fellas? So, in closing, always lie whenever you can.

That is pretty shady. They're going to find out anyways. Or may not because they broke up or for w/e reason. You shouldn't have to lie about your age.
