It's time for The Notebook fans to grab a box of tissues and plan for their Februaries and romance-filled Valentine's Day dates. Cinematical has just received this exclusive snuggle-centric poster for Dear John, which just so happens to be the latest adaptation from Notebook scribe Nicholas Sparks. Directed by Lasse Hallström (helmer behind The Cider House Rules) Dear John stars Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried, and will be hitting screens on February 5.

This time around, Sparks' story focuses on a soldier home on leave (Tatum), and the "idealistic college student" he falls for during her Spring vacation (Seyfried). Over the course of seven years, they must face his increasingly dangerous deployments, seeing each other face-to-face rarely, but keeping the affair alive through overseas love letters that "eventually triggers fateful consequences." War movies might be the sore vein to tap in Hollywood, but something tells me this flick will fly free of those restraints.

i've read alot of nicholas sparks' book and this is one I missed out. But its interesting to know it would be adapted into a film. This is going to be another good movie

That's very true! I love Sparks but somehow when I read his books, they end up being slow and not filled with the type of emotion that the movie touches on. I mean, the guy must be doing something right because his book to movie adaptations are wildly popular. Like seriously, if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have any of the wonderful chick flicks that us girls fantasize about, lol. I read A Walk to Remember, The Notebook and I tried reading Nights in Rodanthe and even bought the Dear John book but haven't even flipped a page yet. I'm happy that the directors chose to do it differently for Hollywood but I also give Sparks mad props b/c with his ideas and the inspired directors, his book adapted movies have been very successful! Nonetheless, I think any Sparks book turned into movie is a must watch! Can't wait for this one. =)

i didn't even know that Dear Jon is turning into a movie. i knew that miley cyrus was going to be in a movie that was another nicholas sparks' novel.

i loved the trailer!
people say channing tatum is terrible at acting, but i think it's just his roles that are bad.
his acting looks superb even in the trailer!
and i think channing and amanda have really great chemistry onscreen

I am SO excited for this movie! I fell in love with the trailer! I was gonna go read the book until I read some spoilers about what happens in the book and the ending which makes me not so happy. I hope it's different in the movie!!

my cousin told me about this movie a while back when it was still in production....sounds interesting and i swear i'm going to cry like crazy from the look of it, it's going to be a tearjerker. hopefully i'll be watching this too or at least get to see some parts of it.

Read the novel and it was pretty great. So sad though and I love the actors they chose. Hope it lives up to the expectations.

i'm a sucker for these kind of movies. i can't wait for this. the plot sounds good. the only sparks novel i read is the notebook so dear john might be the second one.
