I know the answer because I was given the answer. The thing is I want to know how to get to the answer. Here is the question:::

10. Use unit fractions to answer the following questions:

b.) How many square inches are in 1.00 square meters?

I know we are going from an american measurement to a metric measurement. But I dont know what else to do... Can someone help me? Thank you in advance.
I apologize if this doesnt go on this forum, I just didnt know where else to put it...

I fail at explaining.
I only did this for one day but here goes:

the key to converting measurements is multiplying by 1.

First im assuming that you are given: 1in=2.54cm

1in/2.54cm

-multiply by 1 (100cm = 1m)-

(1in)(100cm)/(2.54cm)(1m)

-the cm's cancel out so you get-

100in/2.54m

-but you need the squares so..-

(100in)^2/(2.54m)^2

10000/6.4516

1150.0031.. square inches/ square meter

Is this the correct answer?

assuming 1 meter = 39.3700787 inch

1.00 m^2 x (39.3799787 inch)^2 / (1.00 m)^2 = 1550.782667 inch^2

with no concern to significant figures.

basically use the m to inch ratio and square it because you are dealing with squares.
