I've been thinking of getting a new phone for ages, but haven't been able to decide on one. I need to choose between the following phones:

1. softbank 707sc (hot pink)
2. panasonic p905i (rose gold)
3. nokia e71 (white)
4. nokia n97 (white)

I'm not exactly a heavy texter, but I do text quite a lot, more then I call anyway. Looks are important too. I prefer phones that are 'fobby' or look 'fobby.'

If you have or have any experience with these phones, please share a short review here for me.

Any thoughts and advice are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have the 707SC II.
If you want a phone with a phone strap hole so you can have charms, then you have to get the 707SC II, the first model doesn't come with a hole for them.
If you text a lot, and prefer using T9, then I don't recommend this phone. T9 is lost with the unlocking process, so you have to type out each letter manually.
I think the phone is gorgeous looking. I have it in red and black. If you're curious about anything else, I can answer.

Fo some unkown reason, I hate using T9. Most of the time I have to end up typing the actual word itself.
Basically, is it a good phone overall? no freezing or crashing?

Nah, not at all. Sometimes when I have tons of text messages saved it lags a little bit, but then I just clean out the boxes, restart, and it's fine again, but I've never ever had a problem with it.

i dunno much about the other phones, but i've heard bad things about the panasonic p905i. the phone will lose reception all of a sudden, and most of my friends who have the p905i had to bring around an extra phone in order to be able to revive the signal.... not fun.

but that could be depending on where i am...? (i'm not that knowledgeable about japanese phones). i'm in toronto btw.

I've decided to go with the samsung 707sc, since it seems to get a lot of good reviews. I also didn't need a phone with a lot of features, since I recently bought an iPod Touch. So the 707sc is just fine for me ;D

I think you'll be very happy with it if you like simplicity and looks, I know I am. I went from a sidekick to it and I couldn't be happier.

If you are thinking of the n97, I would hold out for the n900. But it's your choice. I'm biased towards nokia.

hmm..

I have a black P905i and for a keitai it's pretty good, my receptions pretty solid, not like others that lose signal a lot and texting's pretty easy on it, however you do lose the ability to picture message and surf the web, but those are things I don't really need so I'm fine with that. The camera on it is pretty good and I love the screen, putting stuff on it and customizing needs a little more work but it pays off and I don't mind. And if you were to go with a japanese phone/keitai I'd go with the newer version the P-01a, you can even text easily when you have the phone opened to the side ^-^

My friends have E71's and they love it the battery life lasts forever, or so they say and the white one looks really nice =]

And I haven't used the 707sc but I have used the 709sc and well its cute and all but the phones are really laggy and plus you have limited memory on the 707sc.

3. nokia e71 (white) --> not that much different from a blackberry. not really that fobby. silver's nicer than white.

5.lg prada 2 --> it's nice i like it

personally i have the sh906i sucks cuz there's no t9 and i get like 1000texts a month. so if you text a lot. i wouldn't really recommend a keitai. (so i'd rethink the 707sc and p905i)

I have the Nokia e63 which is almost the same as the e71 except it's not as good. I've had it for over 6 months now and I really like the phone. Has many functions you can use, texting is a lot easier too. The battery life is good. I've had the phone for over 6 months and I only charge it once every 3 days
