Say your partner is in hospital with a coma and it's uncertain when they're going to wake up.

How long would you be willing to wait for them?

Keep in mind that when people wake up from comas, it's usually not like how it's depicted in movies (i.e. they don't gain spontaneous awareness of their surroundings and they may suffer from disabilities such as speech or hearing impairment for a certain amount of time).

Assume that the cause of their coma didn't cause any other injury i.e. no loss of limbs etc.

No one dies a virgin. Life screws us all.

until my feelings for them just go away. so i don't have a set time.

i'll wait with a lots of hope at first, but i can't waste my entire life just waiting. until i feel like i need to finally move on, then i'll be done waiting.

It depends. I'd wait until I completely lose interest in him. But this also depends on how long we were together. For a rough estimate, I'd probably wait about as long as we were together. Like, if I dated a guy for a month I'd wait a month for him, and if I was with him for a year, I'd wait a year. If we were married or something for 15 years, I probably wouldn't wait long for him, because since he's older, his chances of recovery are worse. So it also depends on that, too.

It depends on how much I love that person. If I don't love him that much I'll just wait a few months or perhaps only weeks. biggrin.gif But if I'm totally in love with that person I'll wait forever.

Forever? How naive are people. Ok if it's sb I have been with for like 4 years and I'm VERY VERY in love with them, and are planning to marry them, I'd wait alittle over two years. But life goes on, I don't believe in forever, what if they never wake up?

I'd save the girl the trouble of paying off that ridiculous hospital bill if and when she wakes up by letting her go. I doubt she'll want to wake up knowing NO ONE is around but a stranger she probably can't even remember. The stranger being me. Plus, once her life gets back on track and she makes a full recovery, there's something called bills up the pink berry. I'm not going to let her continue to suffer. The other side to this is she makes a full recovery and still maintained her memory of me because while she was out all she thought about was finding me. The worse part about that is I've since moved on after waiting one year. Am I going to let ther wake up to the worst heartache of her life?

"O-m-g! You finally came to!"
"Kuraiya? Where am I? Who is she?"

Yeah, that's some real pain.
The names Kuraiya. Pleasure to be an acquaintance.

I hope you go into a coma and your most loved person pull YOUR plug.
