Thanks for the comments guys. Totally agree with all of you that the 2nd gen TT is sexier no doubt. Who doesnt want that version, at the end of the day it was down to price. There was no way I was going to spend over £25k for the 2nd gen TT (I'm currently saving up for a deposit on a house so that was a no go.)
evoJDM pauL, you're prob talking about the first batch 1998 - 2000 models. It was well documented that both the coupe and roadster models were unreliable with reported crashes and related fatalities occurred at speeds in excess of 180 km/h (112 mph), during abrupt lane changes or sharp turns.
In the end Audi had no choice but to recall all models in 98/2000 and improve the quality - esp the car's handling at very high-speeds. Rear spoiler were added, along with suspension modifications on the improved TT's.
Luckily enough, I've managed to find a 2001 version at a bargain price, £5500 with the mileage at 80k. I'm not worried at all about this car. Two previous (one lady) owners with full service history from authorised Audi dealer/garage plus the timing belt was changed at 78k. It's been well looked after for 8 years.
German parts aren't expensive for us Brits prob cause we live close to Germany. The worst cars which I will never ever consider getting again is a French car, stay away from them. My very first car was a Renalt and lets just say I was nearly bankrupt trying to fix that up lol. Lesson learnt.
20k miles on it for $12k, thats cheap mate. You will never find a TT thats done 20k at such a low price.
SHARK, Audi A4 is smooth as you like on the motorway (my cousins got one) very nice indeed and he convinced me to look at Audi's in the first place. The coupe was my fav style so I went for it. One minor problem I've heard from the previous owner was the spark plugs, had to change every year but thats to be expected.
I find it really funny how they say its a 4 seater, no chance, its 2 seater - you have to be a midget to be able to sit in the back lol.
