For anthro class i'm doing research on the trends of direct communication (face to face) versus indirect (IM, texting, etc).
So it'd be great if you guys could help me out and fill out this survery! =)

1) Do you IM/Text on a regular basis?
Yes, I do most of my day.
2) Do you find it easier to communicate through IM/email/texting rather than face to face? (If yes, state reasons)
To me, it is easier. I find myself not worrying that I'm going to stumble over my words or spit in someone's face
due to the braces I have.
3) Is it easier for you to communicate feelings through indirect communication? (Apologizing, telling secrets, confessing, etc.)
Err, I only have one person I talk to through my IMs. I tell him everything because we're so close. But again, it's easier because I feel that I can exactly place my thoughts down. I'd like to have a face to face with someone when I'm feeling down because emotions are really felt in reality rather than words. But it's easier for me to just write it all out.
4) Do you behave differently online than you do in real life?
Not entirely. I'm more outspoken than I would be in reality, but I've noticed I'm developing in a way I never was before. It's like I'm turning into the online me. When I talk to strangers online, I'm still friendly and outgoing. In real life, I used to be quite reserved, but I started growing more friendly and less hesitant around people who weren't my friends.
5) Do you find others behaving differently in real life compared to online?
Uhm. Most of my friends don't go online that much, so I can't really answer this.
6) Can a romantic relationship be built purely on indirect communication?
This is a no. I don't really understand how someone can have a relationship over the internet or through texts. It's a bit.. odd to me. I would like to see physical affection rather than loving words. But, if someone can live without all the affection and still be loyal to their S/O, then I'm sure they can work it out.
7) Would your relationships with others be the same without being able to communicate via IM/texting/etc.?
I'm sure it would. I only talk to one person on AIM and he's across the country. If I didn't have AIM though, I'd probably be a very lonely person, lol.
8) Are there certain people you only talk to online?
Just one person. He's a long time friend of mine. My school friends don't go on much.
9) Do you spend a lot of time with friends and family outside of school/work?
No, not usually.
10) What do you do in your spare time?
Watch TV, cook/bake, and probably study.
11) How many hours on average to spend instant messaging per day?
I'm on all after school and my friend and I just talk whenever. It's usually from three in the afternoon to nine in the evening. That's six hours of random chatter.
12) Would you say you’re introverted or extroverted?
Introverted. I don't like people knowing things about me, but I'm still outgoing and friendly.
13) What first introduced you to instant messaging? (friends, family, etc)
My sister, I believe.

Once in awhile, but calling is dominant.
