I have a few questions because I barely understand Honor Societies since I never bothered to keep my grades as high as I could have in High school.
1. What are these honor societies like?
2. What do you do in there (I know there's volunteering and stuff but besides that what do you do?)
3. Do Universities really look at that and say "wow, she was in an Honor society, she's good candidate."?
and because I'm so ignorant, and dumb...
4. What are sororities and are they related in anyway to Honor Societies? (I have a hunch they aren't but just incase)

Hmmm...I've also recieved an invitation several times from the National Honor Society (Key) but never bother to become a
member. Too expensive for me. I think it's like $75. You should go on line and check out some of the offerings they give you and based on your decision from that. I'm not sure if University really care about that stuff.
Sororities are different from honor society, that I know for sure LOL!

Yeah my mom said the same thing. I think I'm not going to join, although I can see all over college that they have posters about specific events that will be happening around these dates.

I think they are legit because they were on my campus. However, the number$$$$ they sent out for scholarship may not be as accurate as they reported in their website.
If you want to put in your resume that you are in the Honor Society to look smarter, you can just prove it just by putting your GPA in there instead and just make sure you have extra curricular activity.

I would say prestige...yes uh huh. Depending on what type of honor society it is, when you graduate you get to wear a medallion, pin, etc if you choos to participate in the commencement.

Okay I see. Well I ended not joining the one that invited me. ^^
It would be kind of pointless if I joined one.. I mean.. theres not much that I can benefit from
except the volunteer stuff. but besides that... its like im paying to volunteer hahaha.
