Today was my midterm exam. of course i studied for them and went to the classroom to take it but then i realized that i forgot to buy the blue book (some kind of a exam paper they sell in college campus). I ran out to buy it only to realize that i had maxed out my credit card. (WTH) So I ran back to my classroom, grabbed my things, and ran out in embarrassment. (some of the students were laughing at me sad.gif ) I dont know what i should do. I have a fairly good grade in that class and i was wondering if i could maybe just skip the midterm and studying freaking hard for the finals. I don't think i can go back to that class. im a really shy person so i get intimidated very easily. (i cant even look at people) what should i do?

Wow that sounds horrible. I'm introverted, but not to that stage. Usually my dumbass sense kicks in and I laugh at myself.

Bluebooks are like 30 cents, I don't understand how you couldn't buy that.

Check your syllabus and see how much the class was worth. If it was more than 15%, I would suggest you drop the class. BUT before you do that, you REALLY should send an email to your professor, and ask her/him if you can take a make-up and explain why.

It's not the end of the world, so just hang in there.

What class is this for? I suggest you talk to your professor asap... He/she might understand, but you should explain why you reacted the way you did to make it clear that you didn't just flake out on the test.

The same thing happened to me this Monday. I had a midterm, came to class forgetting to buy a blue book. I ran across the campus sleep.gif to buy it, but I realized I left my money in my pen bag which I accidentally left at home. I just asked some people around the store for money to borrow it. This guy gave me the 32 cents, and he said my situation is completely understandable. When I got back to class, I had to ask 3 people until I finally got a pen T_T

You should have just stayed and and use loose leaf notebook paper or ask around to buy/borrow from people and promise to pay them back later. It's better than nothing at all.

Are you at a UC? I think the drop date has already passed...so now you can only opt for P/NP and yeah next time, just disregard what others think....I think your grades are a little more important than the classmates that are only there for a quarter and you never see them again =D

Yeah, I'm gonna suggest you drop/ask for pass-nopass/withdraw from the class. The best grade you can get is a B-, and that's a 2.7 GPA, which isn't too good at all.

Next time, believe in your classmates. There have been many times when I forgot my scantron or blue book and although I never spoke to anyone in my class ask loudly and hope someone has extras. If they do, usually they share and won't even take money in return... so now I always keep a few extras in my back pack.

Sometimes professors even have spare blue books on them or accept it on paper.

I don't know what I would do... probably just finish the class and hope I pass, if not retake. But it's not nice to your GPA to experiment like that. And it never hurts to aks the professor what the likelihood that you can pass will be given your current grade.

wow. i mean, wow. you're telling me you forgot to bring a blue book, went to buy one, didn't know the price, didn't bother to ask the price, went back to class without a blue book, didn't ask the teacher for other options, left the class, and now cannot return to class due to shyness? just wow.

i hate to sound mean, but honestly, your story seems kind of unlikely.

i'm not going to sugar coat it for you, but i agree with the poster one up. You need to take more responsibility in making sure you have what you need at the time that you need it. I hope you are a freshmen in college, or else there really is no excuse. Are you going to show up to an interview forgetting your resume, or go to a networking function without your business card? And being shy is not an excuse. Its good that it happened on an academic exam and not on something else thats more important. I hope you can take this experience and learn the much needed lesson from it. I suggest you to drop the class too, a B- does not look good at all..esp if you wanna transfer to a UC. its only getting more competitive every year, you don't want to find yourself in a hole that you youself have created.

wow..you should have told the professor and he could have asked the class if anyone had an extra you could have or tell the professor and see if you could write it on just write it on paper

but yes bluebooks are like 30 cents max..
