This is a problem, which many of you might find abnormal. I get SO motivated to work out only when I'm in a terrible mood (angry, mad, pissed about something, emotional, etc) .... on days when I'm completely fine or happy, I don't feel that "motivation" burning in my heart to start working out. Is this a serious problem and will it affect my results?

its not abnormal. its because you have excess energy/adrenaline to burn off so you feel like you need to do something hence the need to work out to drain it. it makes sense when ur happy/satisfied that your gonna just want to chill...but as with anything, if you want to work out, you gotta motivate yourself.

and as to it affecting you long term of course leading a angry and high stress life isnt good for anyone and can lead to health problems. but if you only plan on working out when ur mad i dont see that as being very productive either

Because it makes you feel better, and you know this subconsciously.

Working out produces testosterone and oxytocin (same hormones associated with sex), so whatever mood you're in, you'll probably feel a lot better after a workout.

You brain basically just wants to feel better, and it knows, again, subconsciously, that it can do so by making you work out.

Stressors cause the fight or flight response, dumping adrenaline in to your bloodstream and preparing you for physical activity. Aggression also boosts physical abilities and confidence/decisiveness (whether it's warranted or not).

These days, stressors come mostly in school, work and social flavours, rather than from predators or other physical dangers.

Haha me too.. I am exactly the same. WHen I get really angry I can probably go to the gym and stay going and work out for LONG time.. high(well higher than usual) intensity.. so powerful! Shame now I am angry but still too lazy to go burn it off haha

You're stressed, so it's nice to let all of that stress out while working-out. It's not a problem^^, so i wouldn't worry about it.

It could well be that you associated feeling good about your health only when you are emotional. Alot of people become aware of their mortality (health) when they are emotional. It's not a bad thing, just learn to become aware of your health when you are in good moods too!

You don't have to workout for hours on end to see great results, just choose smart exercise programms to follow that use productive movements and dont take up too much of your time.

If you understand that it doesnt need to be torturous or long winded then perhaps exercising can become a regular non emotional part of your life...

Good luck pal
