Hate to be the first one to give this a bad review, but I ate it before and it was really nasty.
Mines was red though, although it wasn't spicy or anything huh.gif

I LOVE THIS!

It has such a great crab taste.

I had it in Vietnam last year, they use rice paddy crabs (they are small and grounded).
How were you able to replicate them here in the West?

I love them. I don't know why but I love all "slimy" vegetable: purple yam, rau đay, okra...My family grows rau đay in our garden and we freeze them so it would be available all year round, or just until the next harvest.

My family never had this, I guess considering my mom is from Nam...
I'm guessing this dish is more often made in Bac, because my grandma (dad's side who is from Bac) always makes rau day.

Eh, so is it a Nam or a Bac dish? huh.gif Conflicting reviews... lol. Anyway, I kind of agree with kissez* - the pic isn't that appetizing - maybe it just doesn't do the dish justice.
