What does holding hands mean for you? How do you like to hold hands?
What pops into your head when you see two people holding hands?
Any own rules for holding hands? ( couples only? Friends only?)

Affection. Alliance. Love. Whether it's between a couple, friends, or family, it shows some kind of care between the two of them.

Most of the times, others would assume that you are going out with someone when you are holding hands with someone from the opposite sex but it isn't always true. I always hold my friend's hand just because I find him so adorable (no, there is no feelings attached but the fact that I love him like a little brother).

i'm more on the "traditional" side and i would only ever hold hands with my boyfriend. LOL biggrin.gif
i like it when we hold hands, it makes me feel like we're talking even when we're not. and when i feel like i need strength i hold on extra tight and he'd do the same. it's an amazing feeling. hehehe biggrin.gif

when i see people holding hands the way couples usually do, i assume they're a couple. =P

When I see two people holding hands, I imagine two people holding hands.
Is that supposed to mean anything?

Holding hands means at least one person in the relationship is happy (to me lol).
When two people hold hands I immediately think they're in a relationship, opposite sex or not.
I believe it should be couples only... I just can't imagine myself holding a friend's hand (and I'm a guy btw) without feeling awkward.
I'd actually decline if someone asked to hold my hand while walking (not just because I sweat profusely haha).

I hold hands with friends...I'm a girl by the way. I hold hands with my friends (that are girls and guys). It does depend on how the other person feels about it though. If they feel uncomfortable, then I'd respect that.

I hold my friends hand just to make them feel uneasy. It works awesomely.

To me, holding hands is restricted to the s/o only. It devalues the feeling if u hold every one else's hands. Also, just my opinion, but holding hands means a longing to unite two people together as one entity. Like that feeling of together forever. When I think of holding hands, I envision the backs of a guy and a girl holding their hands on the beach.

If it's friends and family, I link arms with them to show my affection but I never hold hands with anyone else.

I also agree with mandoo*, but along with that, I think it's for protection as well, like when a mother holds her child's hand. It keeps the child from getting lost and the child also feels safer.

I hold hands with some of my friends (girls only; my boyfriend would kill me if I held another guy's hand XD). It feels a bit weird, but I just take it as they care about me, so I don't mind it.

When I see two people holding hands though, I automatically think they're a couple. If they're two people of the same sex, I may rethink that, but you can probably tell by how they're acting together whether or not they're going out.

No rules to holding hand. :] I just think it's a sweet gesture.
