You took the words right out of my mouth. This is the one of the more stupid threads I've seen recently I think. Guys look better with their hair in any case. If they want to shave; that's fine. But most really don't and race has nothing to do with it!

What little masculinity you have? Don't say things like that...
You're absolutely right. Girls don't shave because they have to, they shave because they want to--makes them feel more ladylike, maybe. But if all the women in the world stopped shaving, our popularity with guys would not decrease at all. Trust me. We just pressure our own selves into doing certain things--like wearing makeup or high heels. We really don't have to.

lol? I didn't say that men can't shave their armpits.
I'm asking why it matters, since they're allowed to shave it off if they want,
or keep it the way it is if they want.
But the OP made it sound as if NO asian guys shave their armpits, which of course, isn't true.
That is why I said they're not 'EXPECTED' to do so (because the OP made it sound like they ARE)
I thought when I said "personal preference", it would get the point across that it's their CHOICE, but, apparently not.

i find it kinda weird if guys shave their armpits.

Not to mention it's more unsanitary. Sweat and stuff gets trapped in there if there's lots of hair D: Makes it smell more and stuff
Some hair is okay though

In response to "We don't have to shave"
I hope you're looking after your facial hair then!
Beards, moustaches, messy catterpillar eyebrows on men make me sick!

&I'm a girl.
My bf (Chinese) has armpit hair.. not a lot. (If I didn't wax I'd have more LOLOL).
But he thinks it's manly so he keeps it. I agree with him, even though that means when we cuddle I always get armpit hair in my face T___T. haha.

Actually, yes it is because of that. Why is it different for guys? Because we're guys. Women are supposed to shave their legs and armpits, guys aren't. That's just how it is. Same thing as asking 'Why do women shave their legs?'. It's just common knowledge

Is that not presumptuous? I've heard this fallacious argument so many times that I cannot resist arguing it. For some reason, people think if something (a system) has been around for a long time, its age is a good enough reason for its existence. I beg to differ. Systems are very malleable and dependent on the passage of time, the changing populace and environment, etc. In the very very olden past, maybe being "manly" contributed to a more aggressive persona, thus allowing the male to assert his dominance over the other men and become the first to have his share of meat and women. Hair growth was attributed to the manliness and became the burnished stone to reflect that manliness. However, the twenty-first century is a more "developed" and "civilized" society. The savage aggression is unnecessary in most professions (the manner of living). Instead, people polish up outward appearance, advantageously creating a welcoming front to socialize/network (very much important to furthering personal life such as marriage, friends, career, etc). Thus, why won't guys shave to improve their chances of success with the ladies? As you see here, a lot of girls find it attractive. But if your personal preference is to not shave, by all means continue. But if you're solely doing something because it's "the way things are supposed to be", then don't yourself too governed by superego. Wow, I am taking too much time on such a trivial topic.
