I feel like the vaccination was pushed out too quickly and therefore there could be side effects that researchers don't know about yet.. I won't be getting it.

Plus, people die from the normal flu too, just the normal flu has been around so long that its not a big deal.

I don't like getting vaccinations unless they are mandatory, such as the ones I needed for school (Tetanus, MMR).

Besides, I just contracted the flu Friday....no point now. ~_~

hey guyz, i work in the hospital (I'm an RN) and a lot of my co-workers had gotten the H1N1 vaccine. I havent heard any bad reaction or anything like that. For one thing, the vaccine is not available for everyone yet. I'll get my share once its available.

anywayz...the vaccine should not harm anybody. It's a dead virus so it should not cause any reaction other than pain or some soreness in the injection site. Unless, you have an allergic reaction to (which can happen to any vaccine) then that's a totally different situation. I know two people that died in swine flu, so like everybody says..better be safe than sorry!

FYI: they wont give you the swine flu vaccine until you have gotten your regular flu shot. reason: they don't want the virus to mutate!

I haven't been sick in years, but I still get the flu shot every winter - my whole family does. I'm going to get the H1N1 shot once all the high-risk people get theirs first. That's how it works here in Canada. I keep reading about healthy children and young adults dying from H1N1, and I'm not going to lie, it scares me. Apparently people are going to be susceptible to getting the virus up until May! And H1N1 is going to be an annual thing; it's not "going away" after this winter.

In any case, if you guys decide to get it or not, be safe and have a happy winter. smile.gif

Nope, not planning to.
I've never had any flu shots, and have never gotten sick. *knock on wood* So why bother getting the swine flu shot.

just wash your hands regularly, carry around anti-bacterial gel, and don't touch your face (mouth, nose, eyes) w/ your hands.

same here. i never got any flu, hepatitis shots, etc. I think that what bunny says is currently our best line of defense. I don't feel comfortable with getting this shot. I don't know anyone who has gotten it

Big deal, that just means my body will get free training on an annual basis.

There's none available at my family doctor.

And my school was giving the injection out for people who filled out the paper, but they rejected my paper since I have mild asthma. >_>

So...whatever now. loll. I already had a really bad flu a couple weeks ago, and I was prescribed some tamiflu. I'm okay now, so as long as I don't hang around people who are all sneezy and coughy I should be okay. Plus they have hand sanitizer machines installed in every single room of my school, which should mildly help.

I wasn't planning to get it at all, however, at the hospital that I work at I had two choices: get the shot or wear a mask everyday. I chose the shot lol.

no for me the marginal costs of getting the H1N1 vaccination outweigh the marginal benefits at the moment. i really don't want to get any of the side effects, and my dad became sick after getting the regular flu shot. i'm pretty healthy, and i'm not really young or old. it's also like $15, and in my area there haven't been many cases yet. maybe if it starts picking up big time then i'll consider it but for now no.

WAIT! you have to PAY for it in the US?????> ohmy.gif

I'm probably going to get it at some point, because in the UK they're rolling it out for healthcare professionals and workers first. I don't think they particularly want flu-ey medical students wandering around hospitals. xD

I agree. Since we're thinking along the same lines...you should let your boyfriend screw you with no condom. I mean, since it isn't 100% then what's the point right?

I went on Saturday morning to get my seasonal flu shot & H1N1 vaccine...
They ran out of seasonal flu shots and H1N1 shots and I have asthma so they recommended me not to take the mist.
I thought I had first priority since I have asthma, I guess not.

^my post a while back...

I got swine flu the day I was due to get the vaccine.
yay!
