So right now I'm in the process of choosing a summer college program to attend this summer. I plan on going to one of the colleges on the East coast. I'm not entirely sure what i want to study at the moment right now. So if any of you have been to a summer college program for high school kids before please tell me 1, where 2, what did you study/program and 3, how was your experience?

So far, I'm considering Psychology at Harvard, or art & fashion design at NYU

btw: I'm not paying for this, ( $$$$ ohmy.gif) i have a scholarship program sponsoring me so money isn't an issue.
& i will be 16 this summer =) currently a sophomore.

Well, considering your age/class there's not many options.

When you're a junior, you should apply to TASP (completely free... that is, if you can get in). I'm going to be applying this year (cross-fingers). A large number of attendees go to Ivies.

Based on what I think your "interests" are, there's a pre-college program at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design). I haven't gone, but I heard it's awesome.

Other Programs:
Pre-college - Brown, Columbia (they also have Columbia abroad programs), Cornell, Yale, Harvard (like you said, but I heard it's not worth it), etc.
Journalism - AAJA Camp
Math - MathCamps(?) @MIT, pre-college @Carnegie Mellon.

You should check out College Confidential for information about summer programs smile.gif. But don't take everything they say about college to heart!

I did Economics for Leaders this summer, and honestly, it was the most amazing program I've participated in. The program is for juniors only and is a great prep for econ in the fall. The thing is though, you barely notice that your in economics camp because they make it so fun, and its only for lie 2 hours of the day. For the rest of the day, you do leadership stuff, which is amazingly fun and hilarious. You meet some great people up and I still keep in touch with my roomie. I'm actually planning on visiting her in the summer. the best part of this program was that it was only $150.

Sophomore... not many summer programs are open to you because they're more geared towards helping juniors, and especially seniors. Not saying you shouldn't apply, but it would be better to wait til junior ear.

If you're interested in fashion, you should look into Syracuse or Pratt. Syracuse has this summer fashion program going on, and from what I've seen/heard from the reps, it sounds amazing. Its a 2-4 weeks, but for juniors though.

If you're going into fashion, you should have a portfolio... of not only fashion works, but other traditional drawings too.
