My best guy friend told me that you can't be best friends with your bf/gf unless:
You were best friends before getting in relationship with them
There was another condition but I don't really remember :/
Is this true?
He said that there is a huge contradiction when you try to be friends with the one you love. I don't really think so but, I was wondering if others think this is true.

It works for me.
I don't see how you cannot be best friends with your partner after all the time you spent and shared with them. I think it is necessary for you and your partner to be best friends to have a great relationship. One of the cores of any romance relationship is friendship.

Why not?
My boyfriend and I are bestfriends. That's what we both looked for in one another, aside from love and all of that good stuff. We joke around, call each other names as if we were just buddies. Trust and respect.

My boyfriend is just that, my boyfriend, my lover, my partner, and possibly in the future, my husband and a father.
My best friends are my best friends. I don't see the point in having to refer to your significant other as your best friend since all of those qualifications should already be met (in theory), and then some. That's what makes them different than best friends.

Agreed 100%. Also, lovers come and go, but your best friends are (ideally) the ones that stay.

My best friend will always be my best friend, nobody will ever take her place. That doesn't mean my boyfriend isn't important, or that I'll never be as close, it's just I wouldn't use that term to describe a boyfriend.

My boyfriend is truly my best friend. Things have been different for me compared to some other people. I do have some really good friends, but prior to meeting my boyfriend, I never had someone I could call my best friend except for my mom. She's still my best friend beside my boyfriend, I'd say. XD

Wow, I feel the exact same way!
I have my own share of best friends, but I've never considered my boyfriend as my best friend. I mean, even though we're close, we share everything with each other, and we have all those best friend-like qualities, it just feels strange calling him my best friend, lol. It's weird.

he was mine, I wasn't his. that would probably explain why we're having problems.

I tell everything first to my boyfriend, but really he just doesn't help me the way my girlfriends do. It's just not the same. He's my boyfriend, and I'm close to him, but in a different way. My girlfriends are the ones who give me advice and cheer me up, my boyfriend is...my boyfriend. Though my ex was my best friend when I was going out with him.
