So last night I was doing some cleanup in my folders. I noticed I somehow had a Pictures Folder shortcut in one of my other folders.. so I decided to delete it.

T_T then..... The pictures folder COMPLETELY disappeared!! it wasnt even in Recycling bin (WTH). Also, I tried to do System restore and it restored MOST items EXCEPT for the pictures!!

Whats even weirder is that as i was trying to get it back, the pictures folder was restored..but there was only "sample pics" there..and Somehow SOME very very few of my pictures turned up.....

Its the weirdest thing ever....

Also, when I search for some of my pictures files to see if its still in the computer, Its there. I can see the Preview of the pic (little icon) but i just cant open it because "the shortcut has been changed"" or something...

can someone help me???

Right-click + properties and see where the shortcuts are pointing to.
I think when you open documents, shortcuts are created in the "recent documents" section? So maybe you're seeing those.

I think I did that before, I thought I was deleting a shortcut when deleting the shortcut deletes the file as well. Um you can try to scan with http://www.piriform.com/recuva and see if you can bring them back. If you scan and see the files, restore to a external, otherwise you are even less likely to be able to bring back anything at all.

You said you can see some pictures when you did a search on your computer, but did you try right clicking it and restoring it?
