not sure if it's a repost but this caught my eyes

Mishimoto - Hannah's Corner: Chris Rado Makes History
Chris Rado Makes History
History was made this past weekend with a ground breaking record lap time by pro driver, Chris Rado. At the Redline Time Attack event at Willow Springs Raceway, Rado ran a 1:22.623 lap around the track, breaking the front-wheel drive record, which he set last year.

"In what is quite possibly one of the most significant accomplishments in motorsports history, let alone time attack history, Chris Rado, driver of the World Racing Scion tC ran a blazing lap time of 1:22.623 in his FRONT WHEEL DRIVE vehicle. As of the writing of this press release, RTA officials have been unable to find a faster lap time recorded by a FWD vehicle in the history of Willow Springs Raceway. No doubt, the substantial re-work of the World Racing Scion tC during the offseason, including the massive front wing, put Chris Rado in a position to utilize is skill, piloting the car to a lap time that NOBODY thought was physically possible." - Redline Time Attack

If he modified it to get awesome acceleration and top speeds in Reverse, then he's got himself a RWD.

Anyways, I've seen this before. It's not a viable mod for most people because of obstruction of view.

I actually saw this today on my local car forum. I'm surprised to see a fwd do that well. But then again the huge 10 ft wing is ridiculous.

a rear spoiler on a front wheel drive car still has affect. a rear spoiler generally pushes down THE WHOLE CAR creating more traction to all wheels. its MOST effective on rear wheel drive cars. but it does have an affect on front wheel drive cars too. so wht not just keep that lip spoiler and ad a rear spoiler ot create an almost even down force throughout the car? that front spoiler is basically useless.

because without the front spoiler the car would understeer a lot. they went over 5 seconds faster from their previous times without the front spoiler. a small front splitter cannot create nearly enough down force to balance the down force created by the huge rear wing

when you increase the down force with either a front aerodynamic device or rear aerodynamic device you will loose some down force in the opposite end, while total down force is increased

notice how when the angle of attack is increased it increases rear down force (the coefficient of lift becomes more negative) and at the same time front down force decreases (the coefficient of lift becomes more positive). i have a graph that illustrates the effects of changing front splitter sizes but i'd have to take a pic of it because it's in my competition car aerodynamics book and i'm too lazy to do that at the moment. but basically the same thing happens, as you increase front down force you loose some rear down force while netting an increase in total down force

^ i doubt he could provide more info. He's already wrong by saying the Front spoiler is useless.

That Massive front spoiler give those front tires all the downforce they need
