what do you mean awkward?
like an awkward silence? or an awkward topic ... like you've said something unnecessarily perverted, which i guess would lead to an awkward silence lol
or do you stumble and stutter over words? lol many types of awkward

My problem is kinda similar also. We kinda ran out of things to talk about. D :
& I don't know what to bring up to start a convo with him. : (

If this is with a new friend, talk about the other person (compliment or suggestion).
If this is with a boy, talk about the other person (compliment) and surroundings (Hey, that tree is big.)
If you run out of things to talk about, then talk about yourself (funny things that happened to you).

BLEH. I hate it when I'm TRYING to have a conversation and this certain other person just responds one sentence and doesn't add anything to the conversation at all... When I want to avoid awkward conversations, I just avoid being alone with the person I have awkward conversations with, it's better to be in a larger group or talk one on one with another person who's really talkative.

I don't think you can really avoid an awkward conversation, excluding steering clear of them. When you're caught in an awkward conversation, the best thing to do is to find something that you guys have in common. Thus, instead of avoiding the awkward conversation, you're turning it into something better.

I don't believe anybody can be THAT boring. I see from your signature, you like TVXQ, Super Junior, Big Bang & 2NE1. You can talk about music. If they don't like your music, talk about what they like. You might actually learn some other genre and end up liking it, or you might even show THEM new genres.
