So the other day, I was having lunch with my friends and one of them had a cake. It looked normal to me, but he said that instead of putting all of the ingredients (eggs, milk, oil, etc..) he just used the cake mix and a can of diet coke. Kind of disgusting but I heard it tastes the same as any other cake and it's low fat (: have any of you tried it?

I can't see pop being a substitute for an egg. It just wouldn't bind the cake in the right way. Maybe it would work as a sub. for oil or milk, but I don't think you could have only cake mix and pop.

i have never heard that before....
i doubt that it soda can substitute ALL those ingredients....

Have done this a lot. My boyfriend loves it better because the cake is a million times more moist. I only make cake like this when I'm really lazy haha

That's actually pretty interesting. xD It's amazing how people can come up with these recipes though. =P I might try it one of these days.. seems easy and I love moist cakes. =D

Ahh yeah I've seen this done before.. on youtube, I like watching cooking how-to's :] Anyways, instead of cake, it was sorta like a pie with a filling but with the same idea, using soda. Sounds weird to me, but I'd be more than happy to try it ;D

Never tried it. I wonder if tastes any good though.
These days, alot of cakes and desserts are being made with other substitutes so it's not that suprising.

yup! this is known to be 'diet cake' by decreasing the calories
you just substitute all the wet-ingredients (egg milk water etc...) of regular cake mix with diet pop.

the recommended combination is diet coke for devils cake mix since they're both dark
