I'm taking a woman's leadership corse in college, and I have to do a project on how women are portrayed in the media. (it's called the interview project - so original) I'm doing an interview this week with an "expert" in the field. Do you have any questions you want me to ask her, or questions that you would suggest for me to ask her that would start up a good conversation?
Some questions for you to think about
How do you think women are portrayed in the media compared to men?
How do you feel on the portrayal of women in the media?
What would you say to the position that women have to up hold in the media?
How would you say that the women's portrayal has changed over time?
Would you beg to differ if I said that women and men have equal opportunities when considering who gets which role? how so?
Who in the media would you say is the woman that is most portrayed as the media would like, and who the least and why?
Age seams to be a real issue in our media, would you agree or disagree, and why do you think it turned out to be so?
I was just fascinated with this topic and was wondering what the people on Soompi would think/say about this topic.

It depends whether it's more appealing to teens or adults. Let's say it's appointed to teens, women are portrayed as someone who is sexy, defiant, beautiful, flawless, etc. In music videos (we see a lot of these in rap especially, like Lil Wayne and all that), they even have woman being degraded, or so at least in my opinions. Girls that's wearing bikinis, short skirts, baby tees, etc. I think that this is one of the biggest reasons why most girls that 'doesn't' necessarily have that body tends to lose self esteem and confidence. Everything that they see is the opposite of what they've got.

Depends on the show. If you turn on a music video, the girls are gonna be in bikinis waving their stuff at the camera.
If you turn on a sitcom, the woman will be smart, pretty and down to earth (usually).

honestly... you're not half as special as you think you are.

Simple. Sex objects.
And when the woman is portrayed to having power or independence, it's when
she looks or does "manly" things.
I watched a video on this... forgot what it was called but it was a research
on advetorials of women. Wish I can tell you the name cause it'll definitely
be a very good video to obtain information and facts from.

Like whores, because that's how they try to portray themselves. Being a rainbow gets you famous, that's why they make sex tapes and flash their vagayjays everywhere.
Agreed. Thank god we still have people like Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan...
