Do you know that artichokes help clearing pimples for better skin?
It's a secret that not too many people know, but we have proven it over and over again in our family.

An option beside fresh artichoke is artichoke tea. You can find artichoke tea bags at many Oriental Super Markets.

That's pretty interesting, I've never heard this claim... how are you supposed to eat it? On another note, is artichoke tea any good? Personally I love artichokes with vinegar, olive oil and pepper <3333

My mom bought tons and tons of artichoke tea bags from Vietnam when she last visited. There's a region call DaLat there and their known specialty is artichoke tea. It does taste good to me and I drink it almost every day. Don't know if it's a myth but it does clear up my skin, I heard that artichoke aids in the function of the liver and liver detoxifies waste products in your body. So it does make sense in some way, not sure if it's been scientifically proven yet.

Sounds interesting. I might keep an eye out for the tea then since my family never cooks with artichoke.

I think you just boil it.
To eat it you boil then peel the spikes and eat the soft jelly thing inside. (The core?)
And you can use your teeth to scrape off the soft things at the ends.
It's hard to explain.

To make the tea you boil and add sugar into the water it's boiled in.
Pour into pitcher and you got yourself some delicious artichoke tea, I love this.

I'm not sure though, you can try Googling it. There's alot of recipes out there.

Erm usually when i eat artichokes its the whole flower thing petals except the middle thingy

artichokes have little thorns on the end of the leaves take a kitchen scissors and cut of the thorned tips of all of the leaves.THen you can either boil the whole thing or Fry it which is extremely yummy fry it thick flour batter n stuff the middle with cheese or anything yum.....

What do you do with the artichokes? Eat it or rub those spiky things on your skin? tongue.gif

I tried boiling artichokes once, and I don't know how to get rid of those spiky things, so I just ate it. My gums were in pain after eating one and thew the rest away. Probably a stupid move, but I seriously don't know how to get rid of those things.

Artichoke tea is good smile.gif my mom makes it sometimes but for some reason recently when she made it, the tea turned green...so I didn't drink it because I don't think that that's exactly a good thing. LOL

To eat it, I think you're supposed to peel all of the leaves/petals on the outside until you get to the center or the artichoke 'heart'.

Artichoke tea is thought to clear skin, and it works for some people. I used to take all of my friend's since she didn't like it, but I did. I thought it tasted similar to corn l0l.

And for eating artichokes, removes like 2 layers of bottom leaves, since those will mostlikely be damaged or tough. Snip off the tips off of each leaf, then cook by any means you like. Everything is eddible, even the stem, but you dont want to eat part of the artichoke heart that is fuzzy and purple~ish.

There's an oriental supermarket opening soon close to where I live so I'm going to see if they have the tea
