It's a secret that not too many people know, but we have proven it over and over again in our family.
An option beside fresh artichoke is artichoke tea. You can find artichoke tea bags at many Oriental Super Markets.

I think you just boil it.
To eat it you boil then peel the spikes and eat the soft jelly thing inside. (The core?)
And you can use your teeth to scrape off the soft things at the ends.
It's hard to explain.
To make the tea you boil and add sugar into the water it's boiled in.
Pour into pitcher and you got yourself some delicious artichoke tea, I love this.
I'm not sure though, you can try Googling it. There's alot of recipes out there.

I tried boiling artichokes once, and I don't know how to get rid of those spiky things, so I just ate it. My gums were in pain after eating one and thew the rest away. Probably a stupid move, but I seriously don't know how to get rid of those things.

To eat it, I think you're supposed to peel all of the leaves/petals on the outside until you get to the center or the artichoke 'heart'.

And for eating artichokes, removes like 2 layers of bottom leaves, since those will mostlikely be damaged or tough. Snip off the tips off of each leaf, then cook by any means you like. Everything is eddible, even the stem, but you dont want to eat part of the artichoke heart that is fuzzy and purple~ish.

There's an oriental supermarket opening soon close to where I live so I'm going to see if they have the tea
